I'm still pissed about this BFG deal, I had a RMA number given to me for a GTX280 and they would not let me send it in because "they had to wait till they had a replacement in stock" and in the end it was just a stall tactic till they closed shop. Now I'm left with an expensive paper weight...
I also want to see the H50 compared to the H70 with the same 2 fans in a push/pull as that is how I'm running them and on the same case.
I love this place. :)
Very nice preview Kyle thanks.
You got a very good deal and as others pointed out if you change your mind you can always get the 5870 and sell the 4890 for more than 100$.
Let us know if you find any more of those 100$ 4890 ;)
Woot I got in on the main page....
The overclocking idea was not mine blame engadget for that but I did say that version 2.0 would have birth control built in :)
What I really like about this is that it will push prices of current cards lower and hopefully make the GTX280 even cheaper, I play at 1920 X 1200 and the GTX280 is good enough for me but a second one would be nice :)
Just wanted to thank the [H] Kyle and BFG for this, my orders for both 8800 GT (MSI and XFX) got cancelled on me so this was a nice upgrade/surprise.
Ordered yesterday, shipped today and should arrive Friday
 Thanks
M@iden
Mine shipped and should arrive here by Friday (FL) my set and another set for a friend ;)
Hope me and my friend can both get our rebates
I ordered Friday night
I just spoke to Rae and she added me to a waiting list, she said that they should be arriving around the first week of December and should be in the range of 100$ and that once they arrive she will e-mailing or calling those that are in her list
That depends on your comfort spot but I would not want anything running past 65 C but if it's between 60 and 65 and at load I would not mind it to much, again you are the one that has to feel comfortable running the system at those temperatures.
Also more important; at what voltage? Some...
Zipdrive what are you doing with the rear regulators? (the ones that the original heatpipe cools behing the CPU). Do you just have them naked or with some ram sinks maybe?
Thanks,
M@iden
Nice seting you have there Zipdrive
I have the same motherboard (Asus p5b Deluxe) same NB cooler (Spirit II) same video card (I think) same cpu (6600) but with a Zalman 9500 and I have to turn the NB cooler towards the graphics card because it is the only way that it would fit
Seeing...
Nice and thanks for the pics, how were your temperatures with the new cooler compared to the Zalman for both the NB and CPU? how is the noise?
Thanks,
M@iden
I must say that it's a sweet looking setup you have there, I love the black on silver theme you got
Please post some pics on the new cooling you are using, I have a Silverstone TJ06 that is also similar to your setup (inverted motherboard) and I would like to see how it looks
Thanks...
It depends if you want to overclock, if you do and are on a budget the Gigabyte S3 look good, Dumo at Xtremesystems seems to be having a good time with it http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=114156 :D
Newegg has it for 116.99 plus shipping...
I'm currently doing the following build
Intel Conroe 6400 overclocked as much as I can on air
965 board (Asus P5B or P5b-Dlx, Giga S3, still cannot decide but that is another issue)
2 DVD drives (Writer and player)
Scythe Mine (Looks like it will fit inside the TJ05 wind tunnel)
2 Sata...
Nice PS and good review, I wonder it the cables would be long enough to use in a Silverstone TJ05 which has the motherboard upside down?
I will be posting some spec on a planned build on a new thread and would appreciate some advice
Thread here...
I decided to try the red team this time (ATI) and the price I got for the X1900GT was to good (in my mind) to pas up so I did not need SLI, also I have not had an Abit since the BP6 days (good old days) and wanted to try them again and from what I was reading I thought that I could get a better...
You read my mind, I was thinking about that exact price point (200$) but that will have to wait untill I have the new toys in place since the DFI and 6800GT are part of my main rig for now :D
Ok I took the plunge (thanks for the advice)
I went with the Abit NV8 and also got me a ATI X1900GT both for 260$ shipped (73 + 187), I will let you know once I get everything setup and see what I think of this setup and what performance I get
I will have to sell my DFI NF3 250GB LP board...
Thanks for the Replies
quadnad, how is your overclocking; Could you post the settings that you have achieved (ram and CPU)?
My main concern is that I have what I consider a very nice overclock and I'm worried that I will not reach those settings on the new board, see below
"CPU...
