You must buy. I have a 5870 and I am thinking about buying it for some Crossfire action.

I thought Crossfire/SLi had to be matching boards (5850/5850 not 5870/5850)?

I may be wrong, but I also believe crossfire with different cards will run at whatever the slowest clock speed is. So a 5870 and a 5850, both will run 5850 speeds.

Anyone know for sure?

5850's are typically good overclockers... shouldn't be a problem :D

Its more than that though, the 5850 has less stream processors IIRC. From what i've seen you actually have to clock a 5850 about 100mhz higher than the 5870 stock speed in order for them to perform on par.

No, you can clock each card seperately, and they will work at whatever you have them set to.

Crossfire and SLI works as fast as the slowest card. If he doesnt overclock the slower card to faster card`s clocks. Both will work at the slowest`s card speed.
