hard to say... but the heatpipes aren't as restrictive as my asus striker extreme... and i know Thermalright Ultra120 extreme fits

This board's layout still as suck as ever since who knows. Obviously, Asus' engineers are too ignorant to learn from reviewers that their boards may blow in other areas, but always suck in the layout area. Basically, of the three PCI slots, two will be unusable if you have two a dual-PCI video cards (two-slot type) setup. If they could just rearrange the PCI-E X16 slots differently, the layout will be so much better.

was just thinking of that. if you have a PCI sound card....and another PCI slot occuped by say a 3rd party VGA cooler or fan...it will be a very, very tight fit.

hmm. too bad you look for the cons of this board. But sometimes its not all about features. Everyone board has its flaw. But its not about that what people really care for.
Me personally dont care if its not SLI. Im not gonna run sli. Crossfire is able on this board. if needed.

Its outstanding benchmarks with the Q6600 which is why i recommend this board.
not for colours, not for layout. more so on hwo it performs.

But Ive done a little more reading into this board then most ppl. Since I spend more time on Extreme then here.

I have a question.

I remember a while ago reading that boards with heatpipe cooling should not be used in cases that invert the board--such as the Lian-Li v1000.

Is that still true?

I'm just curious because I'm very interested in this board--but don't want to buy a new case to go with it.

I can't agree on the basis that there are only two x16 PCIe slots. (That wouldn't work for me since my RAID controller needs at least a PCIe x4 slot.)

Birdshot is NOT an effective self-defense round. If you think it is, you don't know what you are talking about.

Cost vs. performance is fine, but this isn't [F]rugal|OCP. Its [H]ard|OCP!

Guess that would be a problem if you intend to use crossfire on P5K Deluxe, otherwise the universal PCIE x4 slot (2nd PCI-E x16 slot) would work ???

Right now i'm totally over the moon with quad core FSB headroom on P5K Deluxe 475-485FSB!

Agreed. I am particularly harsh when looking at a board's layout. ASUS has done an awesome job with some of their boards such as the Striker Extreme and the ASUS Commando. I can always find one or two things on each ASUS board. Their mainstream boards usually have a short list of layout issues at the least. First glance at this board tells me that you can't install memory while the primary video card is installed. The expansion slots are not laid out the best. As a poster stated above if you have a dual card setup you will lose at least two PCI slots. Additionally, you will have a hard time connecting USB and Firewire cables for front panel ports with a video card in the bottom slot. Even if you install the video card after connecting your cables you may still have some more issues with that. Specifically the cables in cases like the Stacker 830 will not stretch that far without being run right through the area where the video card will sit. The IDE port is also in just about the worst place it could be. I'm sure I'd find more things if I saw one in person.

Guess you have a point...... it's not everyones' cup of tea depending what your intended use of the board is

I have intel q6600 and P5WDH deluxe mobo with 4gb Crucial Bal 800Mhz ram. Is it worth to get this new P5K to have better mobo for my Q6600?

I would say that it really depends on how much the board costs and if it would fit your needs. I think it has less SATA ports than the P5W DH and it certainly doesn't have quite as long a list of features. (No remote, etc.) In my mind the only reason to buy one of those at this point is for potentially better overclocking results. I will avoid picking up one of these boards because of two things. One it doesn't support SLI and two because it doesn't have three PCIe x16 slots. For me two x16 slots and an x4 slot would be good enough, but aside from the D975XBX2 not many Intel chipset based boards would suit my needs. (SLI aside.)
