I am getting the UAC pop-up when I set EVGA Precision to run at startup also and I downloaded the latest version.

I am turning the damn thing off and relying on Zonealarm to block malware.

Steam mostly does it when it updates (which seems to be a lot) or has updates to games. Its not TOO bad, but I'm the only one who uses my PC (wifey has her own) so I'll leave UAC on for her. Maybe I'll turn it back on at some point.

That's still weird. Mine doesn't do that and it updated itself last night. Did you install it by running the setup file as administrator?

Ditto

Relying on firewall / a/v software instead. Too many prompts for me. Last I knew ATI tray tools was even doing it upon boot up. If it had a fricking whitelist I'd turn it back on (even all the way up).

Did you try the task scheduler 'hack' I posted a link to? It would solve your problem I think, and allow you to run securely.

You can avoid UAC prompts if you run the program from Task Scheduler.

The Acronis scheduler also does not throw up a UAC prompt.

+1. I just installed Win7 64bit myself, and EVGA Precision was requiring a UAC prompt at startup. So I followed this walkthrough to have Task Scheduler start Precision at startup, and now no more UAC prompt.

And to those who think UAC should have a user-accessible whitelist, I'll quote this discussion:

"The problem with allowing the user too much access to add to the whitelist is this: users will just add EVERYTHING to it for convenience. It's been established with virtually every other security feature in history that if you give users an easy way to bypass, they will."

"Hello security hole."

You can, in fact, set up an application so it always runs with elevated privileges and nolonger prompts you.

All you have to do is make a task in the Windows Task Scheduler and check the "run with highest privileges" checkbox. Make a shortcut to this new ask and double click it to start the application. It will inherit elevated privs from the task scheduler service and not prompt you.

I'm assuming everyone who said they would turn UAC on once there was a solution are now doing so
