I also can't figure out why my i7 920 is at 7.6...maybe it's due to SpeedStep.

7.9 (Intel X-25M G2 x2, old firmware, Intel Matrix Raid0)

Before, I got scores of about 7.6-7.7 using Areca 1231ML or Highpoint 4320.
I think the IOP of the raid cards isn't fast enough to handle the SSDs so it's
better to just use the onboard raid and let the CPU handle the load.

My 920 @ 3.65 was also a 7.6

I think Windows 7 is reserving the 7.9 for the Core i9's ?

My 6.4 is the fastest I've seen mechanical drives at...

Still waiting for SSD prices to drop... sorta... atleast enough so I can get ~120-240GB of space for a reasonable price...

Get 7,9 Areca 1231ML

And Areca 1231ML can fine handel over 100000+ IOP

Random Read 109000 IOP with 2 Intel x25-M

Areca 1231ML is one of the best cards when comes iop, SAS card add daly to sata wich you lose iop

Dont rember cap on Areca 1231ML. But know Areca 1680xi got cap on 250000 iop

5.9 with 3 7200.11 is RAID 0. I was hoping to get more with the raid setup, at least more than people with single drives, but obviously I'm not alone.. at least I'm raiding some cheap drives and getting the same scores as people rading raptors.
