The blame for the 59Hz issue is complicated. For nVidia cards, make 60Hz stick by setting your refresh rate to 60.001 (fix for ATi cards is also explained):

Yesterday W7 blue-screened when using Media Centre upon expanding the TV viewing window to full-screen. That was after having updated the Hauppauge drivers with ones from Hauppauge's web site. It was some nvidia driver file that had faulted. Other than that, no freezes in gaming, benchmarking, or general use SO FAR. I've yet try out oodles more games, though.

This guy is having problems with his 5850.
Plugging in an 8800GT didnt help him either so it looks like W7 x64 is misbehaving.

Usinig built in driver in Win 7 on a 7950 Go because it's newer than the one on Nvidia's site. Aside from the wish for a newer driver series all is going well. And since there are no graphic glitches on a card this old I am functioning fine so no big worries.

Installed without a hitch and has played Torchlight easily

i am trying to install the drivers for my 9600m GT on my sony vaio running win7/64

i am using the ones off nvidias website and when i try to install it, all i get is an option to install HD audio drivers, but nothing for the display, and window will only recognize it as a generic VGA adapter.

Ever since my Win7 install on my machine with a 9600 GSO in it, I've been unable to get normal resolutions to display properly on my CRT.

Nvidia's drivers recognize 1600x1200 as my CRT's "native resolution". Since CRTs don't have a native resolution, it's plan to see Nvidia's driver is fucked. Any resolution I try to switch an app to (a game for instance) aliases the selected resolution into its 16x12 "native". Meaning, everything looks like like it's on an LCD that's running outside its native res - that is, like shit. Switch to 1280x1024 or 1024x768 in some random game or other 3D application, hit the OSD button, and it displays that it's still running in 1600x1200, but bloating the new resolution into that pixel space. Hard to describe, but easy to see.

None of the workarounds I've found online work, and none of Nvidia's drivers have fixed it yet. I'm not getting rid of the monitor (Mitsu 2070SB) because its an amazing monitor otherwise. If I hunted down some old enough drivers (like the kind I'd used in the Win7 RC), I'm sure I could get it to work, but my patience has grown thin with thie issue.

I have no such issues with my ATi-equipped rig - the video card tells the monitor to switch properly into other resolutions. I have HD 3870s used from a guy on another forum on the way to supplant the offending Nvidia card.

F- Nvidia.
