Cheapest Core 2 Duo Processor That Won't Bottleneck A Pair Of 4850's
What's the cheapest (oldest) Core 2 Duo Processor that won't bottleneck a pair of 4850's?
I will buy used on eBay. And when I say cheap, I mean $50 used cheap. I want to run Crysis @ 1920*1080 high settings with a 23 fps min with a pair of ATI HD 4850's in crossfire.

If your budget is $50, your choices are going to be limited on EBay.
I'm not sure what motherboard you're running but on a good board, I have an old E6600 that performs well. http://www.hardforum.com/showpost.ph...42&postcount=7 The 4MB of L2 cache on these chips helps out when gaming compared to most CPUs in this price range. For $60 including shipping, it's all yours. Send me a PM if you're interested.

Yeah, [H] FS/FT is going to be far cheaper then eBay, depending how how hard you look into it. On [H], you can find Q6600 for about 120USD, and E6600 for about 45USD.

E6600 would certainly be a decent CPU and they OC fairly well.

I simply remember getting the E6750 because it was about $20 less than the E6600, and I couldn't understand why the latter was more expensive. Having that higher multiplier really helps when overclocking, especially if the motherboard cannot go over a certain FSB speed.

I think the higher multiplier had something to do with it as well.
