Microsoft did rebuild the whole audio kernel when they built Vista. The thing is it works fine with most sound solutions (save for creative, who should probably do a rice krispies commercial sometime), so the problem is almost certainly on the driver/soundcard manufacturer.

It is weird how you're the only person I know of that has this issue with a Xonar and Windows Vista/7. Everyone I know with a Xonar card and Windows 7 or Vista doesn't have this issue whatsoever.
thats interesting... can you check my sig and tell me if you think those people have any of the same hardware I using?..

The reason why I ask is, not 2 minutes after I left my last post.. the crackling started again :?

I'm tired

just a thought.. can I check my psu is delivering enough power to the soundcard?

also, in device manager, should the legacy audio drivers be enabled?.. were they installed with my soundcard drivers automatically?

Strange.... I've never had the snap, crackle, pop issues with any Creative sound card except on Nforce 2 boards which was because of PCI latanecy and was able to be worked around fairly easily.

Do you actually have first hand experience with this or just spouting stuff you have heard?

If you do have first hand experience.. what card is it, what motherboard, what drivers - including motherboard drivers, what IRQ is it using, is it sharing an IRQ with other devices, and if so, what devices, and are you using the latest BIOS version for your motherboard?
