Why does Swiftech's Ultima kit have only a two-fan radiator?

Most people seem to prefer the bigger 3-fan radiator, so why doesn't Swiftech offer a kit with one of those rads?

Go to that thread x509. Most swiftech kits are well over $200, plus they use the 240mm radiator because they have to cut corners somewhere to make a profit, plus not everyone can fit a 360mm in their case.

That's why you put together your own kit, the thread I listed ( which is a sticky right at the top btw ) has the Black Ice Pro III radiator, but you can add $10 more to it for the Swiftech MCR320 instead if you like, but they perform very similarly.

One reason is that the largest radiators do cause additional mounting issues just due to their size. But you have a good point. I wonder if they have done marketing/sales data research and found that (only my impression from reading posts) that a lot of people go with 2 2 x 120's one for the cpu and one for the video card as opposed to a single triple which might be marginal with a high OC cpu and top end video card. One can just add another double or triple to the kit and be good to go. Just guessing. I really have no idea what swiftech is thinking.

Thanks. That thread is awesome, especially with all the different opinions.

Even though I am a complete, utter n00b about watercooling, I have been researching the issues for about two weeks now, and I already came to the conclusion that even if I went "straight" Swiftech (doubtful), I would still not get one of their kits. My next system's case will be the Corsair 800D, which has room on the top for a triple-fan radiator.

All they have to do is look at their sales numbers and maybe do some customer surveys. Plus, review posts on various forums. Basic marketing, really. (which is easy for me to say, since that is what I do in my "day job." )

Thanks for the reply.

Bill,

I got to thinking, so I thought I would ask: What do you consider a "top end video card?"

For my purposes, doing photo editing, I need a good card, but not necessarily top of the line. And since Photoshop supports only one vid card, there is no justification (as a non-gamer) for SLI.

Thanks.
