Looking for a good cheap HDD

Something around $100 that will give me both performance and high capacity.

I don't want something like a raptor nor SDD. Just something big, fast (relatively) and reliable.

Any suggestions?

1TB runs about 80USD nowadays (Fry's B&M).

1.5TB about 110USD.

Don't forget to include local taxes.

You missed a very good deal for the Western Digital 640GB Black yesterday for $50 shipped. In the $100 price range, you'd be looking at the Western Digital 1TB Black (WD1001FALS) or the new Samsung F3 1TB.

Yes. Newegg has the 750GB Black for $60 with coupon EMCMMNV34. Also a good deal.

Amazon has the ST31500341AS for $97.99, $87.99 if you use a Discover card. No taxes or shipping for me, at least, unfortunately I barely missed out on the $10 off Discover card promotion when I ordered my drive for $99.99 on Monday.

for $69. That's right. Now it seems the price is gone. I posted the one for tigerdirect here, but by the time I filled up my cart with other items, the HD was gone! So i went to amazon and bought everything from there and I am glad I did. In retrospect, I should have bought like 20 and sold them on ebay. Was a really great price.

Most people won't go near Seagate's 7200.11 series after their firmware fiasco.

What was this firmware fiasco? I was just thinking of getting that one...
