It's that time again.....
Thinking about upgrading my current rig. When is nVidia due out with a new card? Gonna post the same question about CPU's in the CPU section but if anyone knows please tell me as I want bleeding edge. These SLI'd 8800 GTX ultras are slowing me down :-)

You can buy a brand new "bleeding edge" Geforce210 renamed as the Geforce310. That's all they have that's "bleeding edge", oh and overpriced directx 10.1 cards which should have been released over 6 months ago. This is not a sarcastic post, these are all facts. Nvidia has nothing new technology wise and won't have it 'till next year, other than the previously mentioned rebrands and old technology chips. If brand loyalty is not an issue then AMD has a full line of mainstream (5770, 5750) and high end(5970, 5870, 5850) Directx 11 cards out but supply is extremely tight due to demand and TSMC's manufacturing issues outside of the control of AMD.

You can probably buy Fermi in March.
maybe in April or worse if Nvidia continues with it's downward spiral

Wait until Q1 2010, you should find your answers in January. Oh and ignore Lorien's foul speak please. I won't disagree that right at the moment the ATI products are a better buy. But that is only if you can find one and right now they are not selling at MSRP prices simply because AMD can't keep up with the demand. So given the circumstances waiting a month or two isn't so bad.

Yeah wait till March, most likely April, 4-5 months from now. Nvidia gives that vague Q1 date because even they don't know if the chip will be available at retail on a specific month. That should give you an idea on how late they are.

In spite of this, the channel will be getting a 10 fold increase in the supply of AMD cards after the first week of December. This will either bring prices down or vendors will take advantage of the lack of competition from Nvidia to reap some extra profit. Either way demand will remain extremely high. Quote:

You know Lorien I'd suggest you watch how you post on forums. If you want to stab at people then you can but don't expect to be respected by any. We all know that it isn't AMDs fault (entirely) that TSMC has a low success rate. But equally AMD could have ordered more batches and that would've solved some of the problems. Also I don't care what you think, I'm not loyal to any brand. However saying one should buy a card that can hardly be found and cannot be found at MSRP simply because the competition doesn't have a product to compare isn't smart. If I were advising anyone I would say wait for the competition. It doesn't matter what product, the industry is run by competition. So the AMD cards may look good now but in 3 months time, how well will they look?
