Recently i have switched my pc with these
Amd 64 3800+,Asus A8N32 Sli deluxe,Ati Radeon x550Gu2,
pinnacle PCTV 50i,Sony DVD+RW 810a,LG Cd-RW,
6 HDD as
SATA:-Seagate 300GB,250GB,80GB
PATA:-Seagate 200GB,Samsung 160GB, Samsung 80GB
so i thought to go with a different casing

The idea was:The Batmobile which made its appreance in Batman & Batman Returns.
Here are Some Pics Of It

I have thought to make that case in Wood, but have to make a prototype in
thermocol.
Although Till The Case Constructs i will use MSI RS480 motherboard instead of
Asus A8N32SLi
I Know that they differ in size so i am using the foam base(in grey) of Asus A8n32SLI

Here Are Some Rules Which Need To Be Taken Care
While Making The Case
I Would Put The Case Below my table
i.e. the case should not exceed 69(Length) X 60 (Width) x 30(Height)

Though BluePrints i Have Came Out With These Ratios:-

Excel.jpg

I made a dimension calculator on the basis of these ratios
You put a value in the pink cell the ratios are calculated automatically.
i have also uploaded that excel file for reference.
http://www.filefactory.com/cd5b0b
OR

This Is How The Basic Model Looks:-

IMG_0216.jpg

IMG_0219.jpg

IMG_0217.jpg

1)Left 9 cm in front acording to side bluprint which has a curve in front of the car.
2)The 3 bars are respective of sideblueprint which has starting height, middle height and ending height of the car.
3)Length base is lenght of the base and length up is length including the wings according
to side blue print.

And These Are Different Arrangements i have tried to make

1st Arrangement

IMG_0229.jpg

IMG_0231.jpg

IMG_0232.jpg

2nd Arrangement
Changed place of primary hdd ,and shifted to top of bunch of HDD,
Shifted smps closer to MotherBoard

But Still i am not able to get a perfect one
anything regarding this would be appreciable
thanks in advance,
Cheers,

This should be Wicked - another batman theme case, the world is going Batman crazy LOL

I would like to see a superman case though based on the new Superman Returns film - that would be ace.

Keep up the good work - lets hope this doesnt take a year or so lol

foam around electical components? :X

Good luck with the mod.. just dont use foam for everything! :D ( I know you wont )

This is going to be sweet!

The old-school modded corvette batmobile :).

As far as help, the only advice I can give is to reduce the number of drives. Depending on your budget, you may want to get a few 500GB-750GB hard drives, transfer the data, and sell the current HDs.

PATA 500GB:

http://shop1.outpost.com/product/4795159?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG

SATA 500GB:

http://shop2.outpost.com/product/4551377

Both are around $185-190

Also, you could opt for only one optical drive, or use one slim laptop optical drive with a 2.5"-3.5" IDE converter and one desktop drive.

Once again, this is all budget-dependent, and I know moddings funds are sometimes hard to come by.

Dear AY786,
I am really a batman fan so decided to go for this,
For Superman,i think my neighbour cum friend will surely make it someday hes a big fan of superman, but hes a very slow person so i think the moddling will start in some decades or so. :D
because you remided me of superman i think i should show u this.

And about me i have to complete this case designs by today and make it ready within 3-4 days or so.
Thanks for you reply.

Sorry Jawadali,
The thing is that i m out of budget right now,
i dont have even that much money for the fuel
to just move to a computer shop,
i hope you understand what i am trying to say.

Also I would like to know the website you just mentioned
in your post, does it make a delivery to india too.

Thanks for your lovely advice and support.

Cheers

Destos and Batmanwcm thanks for your advice and support
you will definetely see improved results from my side.

Please don't take this is a bash on your project.

But listen, styrofoam is THE WORST for static electricity. If all of those components haven't already burned out, then they will shortly after you turn everything on. You're gonna get more errors than you can shake a stick at.

Please read the post I made a long time ago, stickied at the top of the elctronics forum here on the boards.

I hate to see you waste all of your time on this, and then end up with a pile of useless fiberglass and lead.

dear SarverSystems,
You are really scaring me,now what should i do with this,
although my pile of HDD are safe as they are in plastic cover
i hope so........
i think you can guide me better,
please do so i would be grateful,
i have to make the case in wood so i think
i should have a premodel first,so what should i use
for the prototype making.

If I were you, I'd throw out all of that styrofoam ASAP. Seriously. Don't even get that stuff NEAR electronic components. You can "zap" stuff evem without touching it.

For mockups, use cardboard. Cardboard still holds a charge, but it doesn;t build up nearly as quickly as styrofoam does. Cardboard is much easier to work with too. When you cut it, you don't gave little cardboard critters flying around the table getting into all the little vents like you do with styrofoam.

Get yourself a bunch of old boxes from your grocery store, bring em home, vut em into flat panels, and use those.

Buy some masking tape, a utlity knife, a sharpie, a ruler, and a compass. That's about all the tools you'll need to make mockups.

But honestly, get rid of all that styrofoam ASAP. Plug all your components together, and make sure they still work before proceeding.

The most susceptible to static are the CPU, RAM, North Bridge, South Bridge, BIOS, and components on the hard drive controller board.

All electrical components can be zapped by static, even LEDs and resistors. And remember, not all static damage will be noticeable right away.

ok i m putting all of my components in a wooden cupboard,
that is the fastest way to separate thermocol and the rest of the things.
ok i need some more favour from you and thanks in advance for that,
You have seen all my components in my first post,

1)Msi RS480 & AMD 64 3000+
2)Sony Dvd-RW + LG CD-RW
3)6 HDD(5 in plastic case and 1 open)
4)SMPS

in these 4 which one do u think could have problems and should be tested
and which one should be left as it is, hoping that those are ok.

Thanks again,
for your quick response.

Oh, sorry that I didn't notice your location. And I completely understand what you're saying; not everyone has an unlimited budget (me included).

Good luck with the mod; There are a lot of knowledgable people here who are helping/will help you out.

Check everything. Static electricity is a nasty thing. It can even damage equipment that is sealed inside static bags if the static electrcity is high enough.

I'd be willing to bet the CDRW and DVD are fine though.

Dear SarverSystems,

Thanks for the reply,
i will surely check the rest of the devices and let you know what the condition is.

Thanks again,
Cheers,

wow, amazing project!

luckily you didn't use the asus mobo for the test fit. that maybe safed you some money.
my only concern is what power supply you intend to use? does it have enough power to power the x2 and the bunch of hhd?

Dear shadowlord,

Thanks for replying and thanks for the complement,
A very nice question u have asked though,
but this came in mind earlier so i decided
i would be using two power supplies. :D :D
i have also made another arrangment a/c to that
i would be posting the pictures soon.

Hope to see u as an interactive part of this thread.
Cheers,
Anand

My model is on 75% completion ,and whn i told my dad he said u wont get a good carpenter who will be able to duplicate the model in wood, and not even in iron sheets will be able to do it. :(
although this is for sure that looking for such a carpenter in india or the person who makes iron things and can make this type of model will be difficult and if found will cost a lot like Rs. 15-30k of india that makes it USD $320-640 which is too much for the cabinet.
now i am confused that whether i should complete my model or not, n if i complete it then how should i use it,will i find a stuff that i can myself use to make this cabinet.

Cheers,
Anand

BobSutan , the last post was 19/6/06, and you just revived and old topic :/
Which is why he asked if there had been any updates to this...seems doubtful, but you never know. And this is the first I've seen this thread. Would have been nice
