82.65 Boost?!?!

Downloaded this and before I installed it I ran the Q4 demo. Here are the results I obtained...
Old Drivers - 81.92
The benchmark started at 1/13/2006 12:02:50 PM

Can anyone else either confirm or deny that these drivers are that much better? Normally I could care less but this is a pretty big jump in performance.
 
A64 Winchester 3000+ @ 2300Mhz
1GB Corsair XMS PC3200
6800nu 12/6

Usually I'll run a benchmark before drivers just to see if performance decreases. This time I was a little surprised. Like I said I usually don't say anything but that's a pretty big boost.
 
Same great boost happened to me

1600x1200 at Ultra High Quality with the Guru3D Quake 4 Benchmark

82.12 Drivers - 119 FPS
82.65 Drivers - 143 FPS
 
You know what really pisses me off... in all the forums ive been on
when ever i try to help i get OMG must be a virus , omg its a trojan
always proven wrong.

I give up im not helping anybody anymore :mad:

Sounds kinda sketchy, i'd like to see some documentation or an article as to what exactly that is doing. I'm gonna try the drivers and Q4 when I get home.

I don't mean any offense, but when you post in here and you registered this month, and are asking us to replace driver related files without telling us what exactly it does... well some of us are gonna be kind of skeptical.
 
Im using them ffs! :rolleyes:

If they dont do anything performance wise uninstall them
they basically have things like texture precache, compression
fast frame buffers e.t.c

You understand my anger aswell right? every single time i try to help
people im having to explain myself , it took about 4 pages on bf2 forums
for people to shut up about being skeptical and throwing omg it could
be virus infected to actually get someone to try and say wow thanks
this was the Directx tweaker im a beta tester of.

did you make this tweak file yourself or did you get it from somewhere?
 
These tweaks are from XtremeG, as im a beta tester for them aswell
they havent done a 82.65 yet so i mixed n matched between
the two inf files.. basically creating a carbon copy from the late
81.X drivers tweaks. Ive tested it myself, i did also post
the information for the rest of the team to implement it into
a final release.

So its basically a beta ini file
 
Cool, i'll have to check that out. I understand where you are coming from with your frustrations, it's just that so many other worthless bastards have made me skeptical of anything posted on the internet.

if its crap for you just uninstall go back to original
 
uploading the driver complete with ini file i created and messed with
give me about 10mins :D
 
Cool, I will try the 81.92's, followed by the 82.65's, and then the 82.65's with the special .ini. I'll use Quake4 to monitor gains.

Update, I just went in on half a bottle of Crown Royal for tonight so I don't know how soon I can post the resluts lol.

Sorry you feel bad - but since you are a forum "noobie" - next time try giving some specific details about what the file is you are posting, what is does exactly, and who you are! People have EVERY reason to fear EVERYTHING they encounter on the internet. Me included.

You mention that your file is good for BF2. HOW?! Does it make it look better? Is it easier to run with slow computers? What kind of video card are you using?
 
wow those improvements are insane (the 82.65), this is going to make me get a 6800gs.
 
He has an OCed 6800GT, BF2 runs faster and has reduced hitching on my comp and I´d say IQ seems to be a little better as well but thats purely subjective. Thanks Blood! And next time, just write a little more detailed post and if anyone should doubt you still, just put em on ignore. :D

Ok check the route of this section ive made 64bit tweaked drivers
but they havent been tested by me :eek:
 
OK, part 1 testing with 81.98 drivers

Quake 4, High Quality, 8xAF, necro666 demo (don't compare it to Major_A's results)

my prediction before installing 82.65: I doubt i'll see a huge jump, but I hope i'm wrong. :p

edit: updated results above. big nothing gained. :mad:

So the benchmarking didn't totally go to waste, i ran a few others with 8xAA and/or Ultra Quality:
Ultra Quality 1600x1200 8xAF 4xAA 88.5fps <-- what I usually run Q4 at

High Quality 1600x1200 8xAF 8xAA 29.1fps
Ultra Quality 1600x1200 8xAF 8xAA 29.1fps
Ultra Quality 1280x1024 8xAF 8xAA 45.6fps
Ultra Quality 1024x768 8xAF 8xAA 84.9fps

8xAA looks really nice :drool:
 
Thing that sucks is the new drivers are not supported by riva yet... so poof go my overclock settings... not a huge thing but don't forget to redo them :)

LOL my specs are identical to yours (except the brand of memory) maybe i should try these, im still on 81.85
