What would you say is the UK equivalent of Newegg.com? It's really unfair that american prices are so much cheaper than here in the UK.

EXAMPLE: eVGA 7900GT CO 256mb

scan.co.uk = £264.38 ($460.70)
newegg.com = £183.69 ($319.00)

http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=366213
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130281

Anyway...

The purpose of this thread is to share links to good computer hardware websites around the UK area. There are 4 main websites I go on...

1) www.scan.co.uk - Good website, great service, fantastic prices

2) www.overclockers.co.uk - Well laid out website (better than scan IMO), great prices and good service

3) www.dabs.com - OK website, good service, sometimes great prices

4) www.ebuyer.com - Never shopped here (just looked around) but I heard their service is really bad. Can't comment but some of their prices beat scan and overclockers.

If you live in the UK (or near it), what websites do you buy from? I've been to http://www.komplett.co.uk and http://www.microdirect.co.uk but they don't really have a lot of choice. Their prices are usually expensive too.

We make the cores and chipsets though :p. Do what i do: Blame Communism.

Anyways, scan.co.uk is the place where most of my UK friends go to buy their stuff.

They have computers in the UK?

I thought you guys were still making mud pies and being oppressed?

Any good sites that I've missed?

I've also had good experiences with Aria. Otherwise I agree with Dabs (big selection), Scan (good prices) & Overclockers (more specialist things that the others don't have). I've used ebuyer once or twice I think (on both sides of the Atlantic). I've never had to rma anything to any of those though, and that's usually what separates the good service from the cowboys.

few brits I know say those sites are good.
Never heard of novatech, thanks for the link. Has a few good prices on there, some prices are way higher than other sites e.g the BFG 7900GT OC.

Never heard of Aria either, thanks for telling me. Not very impressed with this site, doesnt have much variety but thanks!

I sometimes act as an intermediary for friends overseas, and ship the cards to them from the 'egg. Makes RMA near impossible/clunky, and shipping ain't too bad. Customs love the "nvidia 7900tb teddy bear", I'm sure. :rolleyes:

But dont the person you are sending to have to pay a load of custom tax? You have to state the value of the item you are sending from the US to europe and customs put tax on it (which is determined by the value of the item).
