i am currently running a zalman CNPS9500, idles at around 36C loads at 42C. I would like to try water cooling, is there a big temperature drop w/ watercooling? what's the average temperature drop.

post idle and load temps, along with CPU, clock speed and core voltage.

hopefully people with similar procs can post their actual results.

for a chip at stock speeds, there will be little or no difference. it's only when you have things cranked that the added cooling helps.

idle temp: 36C
load temp: 44C
opteron 165 OC 2.45Ghz
vcore: 1.392 volts

WC setup in sig:

Idle (stock): 30C
Load (stock): 36C
Load (OC'd to 2.88GHz with 1.62Vcore and Prime'd for a couple hours): 40C
(Temp in the room: a staggering 80F!! Apt's w/o central air SUCK!)

PS: go WC and you'll never regret it!!

My Opty 144 @ 2736 mhz 1.5V does 32C idle/40C load with a very high ambient temp. When the AC kicks in I do around 30C idle/37C load.

My cards in SLI do 41C on load also.

This is all a little washy, seeing as how onboard sensors can be radically off-the-mark, but I'll post anyway.

Mobo: DFI SLI-DR Expert, Opteron 170 @ 2.8GHz, ~1.49V
Idle: 26-28C
Load: 35-37C
Ambient: 85-90F (moving soon)

This is with: Storm G5, Laing D5 x 2, ThermoChill HE 120.3, ~75CFM fans x 3.
