Why spend all that extra money on an E67/68 when an E6600 will OC to the same levels The only plus is being able to use the higher multi for easier ram settings ![]()

Hmmm now what do I go by? CPU-Z shows Stepping 6, revision B2. But the actual code on my proc is L628B168.

Has anyone noticed that it seems that the GA-965P-DS3 can only be stable up to 3.6ghz?? I can boot higher, but no matter what I do (9x410 or 8*460) with a wide range of Voltages nothing helpsto pass Orthos or Prim for more than 10minutes. Also, if you look at the table on the first page there are NO GA boards at the top. Actually I seem to have the highest score at 9x400 with my E6600. What gives???? Should I go to the ASUS to get to 3.7 or 3.8??? Temps aren't an issue yet (nor the voltage)!!! Frustrating!!

Nice observation.... I just noticed that as well. Humm I cant get anything over 3.58ghz orthos stable no matter how much I pump the volts as well. Very wierd I wonder what is holding the OC back, I never thought the gigabyte board could be the problem.

yah, I have spent the past week trying everything I could think of!! I was even able to boot at 3.78ghz and ran PCMark05 successfully, BUT unable to run ORTHOS nor Prim (my temp is ~65 under load and and I tried vcore from 1.38 up to 1.55)...

I've overclocked my e6600 to 2.8 on air cooling with a Zalman 9700.
When running dual Orthos @ 100% CPU usage I get a CPU temp of 54*C, this sounds high to me. What's the max safe temperature I can run this CPU at?

i'm not a newbie. i had a login before when it wasn't hardforums.com but obviously no longer works.
oh i put some copper HS on the 8 way phase power? on the motherboard. there are holes for additional HS, but nothing there so i put some on with super glue since the thermal tape sucked. gets me a couple more mhz. trying for 485 now.... your cooling method now? "Water+LN2onRad" That won't fit. "H20+LN2onRad" That won't fit. I am just kidding. Is it ok if I just classify it as "Water"? You and I will know that you used the LN2 on the radiator though.
