when did the price of ddr400 skyrocket

i was looking into getting another gig of ram for my computer like the one i already had, and when i bought my gig it was $75 now it is more like $115, when did the prices on ddr400 go up so much
 
DDR2 went up a good amount as well. I went to order another 2 gig kit as I am building another machine and when I ordered mine months ago it was like 160 ish. Same kit is now 220. Pissed me off.

Is the world gonna implode?!?! I was just about to buy a 1gb set for a rig I was building too!

On this item Patriot RAM I paid $138 for a 2GB kit back in April. I have been wanting to add an additional 2GB for the past couple of months, but now the price is $220. That is like 60% increase. I can upgrade my CPU to a 4800+ for the same price...
 
i work at compusa and our prices have gone up about 20-30% also...

I heard that it is because 3-6 months ago there was too much ram being produced for the market driving costs down...

but then companies cut back on production to more accurately refelct sales and now prices have increase...

supply and demand, its just like gas...
