PSU’s: The Best of the Best of the Best!

The Supersize 850W to 1KW are covered in “PSU’s for Future GPU’s: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1104866

Then why make the title of this the BEst of the Best of the Best?

Besides there isn't a single Zippy on the list here and a bunch of Seasonic's (actually 4 out of 6)

I wanted this list to be upper mainstream,
what people are buying & what the PSU companies are concentrating on, the 520WW to 750W range.

Powerful enough for all of todays systems, without too much overkill.

As to Zippy, I did a lot of searching & I must say their marketing & sales departments should be fired!
There is more data at XS, than anywhere else.
Most models are not available & their website hasn't improved in the last 3yrs.

Retail sales is still an afterthought to them

Enhance has a bunch of new units up to 1kW (one of them has dual 35A 12v rails) now too. I wouldn't be terribly shocked to see Silverstone start using them soon.

Haha...everyone has said the same about AMD....didn't keep them from making the best overall x86 processors on the market.

They are available at :

http://store.myaopen.com/ziposu.html
http://www.servercase.com/miva/miva?...Code=4U_Server

And they are distributed by ASI.

If you want the Best of the Best of the Best I would add Zippy to the list......

How about dual ATI GPU's pulling 350W each, plus a fully loaded & OC'ed dual CPU system!

Use their 1350W or 1800W redundant models

Honestly though, 350W seems excessive... they'd probably throw in external power bricks should their cards need that much juice (and I doubt they will).

I'm not sure I believe it,
but a couple of true insiders have told me to expect the next gen of ATI GPU's to pull over 300W's,
mostly from the +12V rail(s) & no PSU's will be included with the cards. I hope it is not true!

Even with 2 video cards and 3 or 4 hdds, arent these 600W and up power supplies overkill?

I'm looking at the 520W corsair for my next build -- looks sweet.

Not to de-rail the thread here, but the AMD processors have only truely been the best since the Althon 64 came out. Now that is no longer the case. In the 20+ year history of the x86 PC, there are more years where AMD, Cyrix and everyone else were FAR behind Intel in performance and quality.

That's why I used the past tense

The point was that while they were the best their marketing department most likely consisted of a single cubical armed with a monkey and a typewriter but that didn't stop the engineering side.
