How do I set up DMA with an SATA drive? I know to go to the hardware profile, but I don't see the same stuff---there is no DMA setting.

A program informed me that it was not in DMA mode.

What kind of performance does it get in HDTach? That'll usually give you a clue if something is really wrong or if it's just a badly written program...

Is that the average read or the burst? Either way, it sounds like you're doing okay. Possibly just a faulty program.

The fastest non-DMA mode is 16.6 MB/s IIRC, so if you're doing better than that you're okay.

It's an old ATI TV tuner thing telling me that, and considering what I just said, that is probably the problem.

50 is ok with a SATA Drive ... as far as i know, DMA is a setting you can set with IDE drives, in SATA drives i think it's already a part of the controller, so it would be already activated ... In fact, the SATA controller acts as a DMA.

More information on DMA you could found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct_memory_access

Greetings !!

PD: could u get any newer version of that ATI TV app ?
