Ok, I just built my Brother a new system for his birthday, he put in some money, and the rest of the Family split the cost. He has a pretty good system for the price, compared to his aging Pentium4 3.0ghz, and ATI X800Pro, he should see a difference in games ?

Asus AN8-SLI
Athlon64 X2 4200
eVga 8800GTS
2gb DDR400
75gb Raptor
X-Fi Music

Anyway's I installed Vista64-Ultimate, I am pretty experienced with it after just installing it on my computer last week :)......Well I plug the whole computer together in an hour or so, turn it on, and everything works cool, start to install Vista64, and it is going really fast and no problems, I had zero issues installing everything, got her up and running in no time, alot faster than my system build last week.

The problem I am having is it is not connecting to the internet after every restart or fresh start, it says there is a network problem ?......I have to click on the network icon, and then repair or found a Local Area Network and then it get's going no problem. and alot of times it says installing new hardware, Raid Controller, but I have Raid disabled in bios, and I have the Vista64 and Motherboard CD in the drive to locate the software needed for the Raid and it says it can not find it, and says hardware not connected ?

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated, I need to give the new system to him tomorrow for the party

Did you check online for updated drivers for the NIC? If Asus doesn't have them, check for the NIC manufacturer's website.

Did you download the latest Vista Nforce4 drivers from Nvidia?
Get them here:

Thank's and yes i did except the last part on the list, I forgot what it is called ? it sometimes goes into safe mode before getting into Windows, says there is an error in Windows/System32/Raid controller or something ? But then I went into device mngr and disabled Raid
Should I try the second download off here, the 64 drivers ?

I am not too sure what to do ?......Before I disbaled the raid controller in Device Mngr, it would always prompt me in the begining of Windows opening "Installing new hardware" Raid Controller, and it would look for a driver, and I would put the Asus CD in, and once found it goes to install it, but then an error would come up saying the driver is not acceptable no driver signature and WIndows would NOT allow it to be installed ?

But now I disbaled the Raid from Device Mangr, and Windows seems to taking a long time opening up at the begining, like it is searching for something ?

I dont think there is a new bios available for this motherboard. they look old on the website;

or hereRaid drivers should I try these;
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us
or what is the difference with these;

Thank's

Bump any more advice please ? I am stumped with the loading issues at the begining of Windows, taking like 2minutes for icons to appear, and this Raid problem I seem to have, even though in bios it is disabled, but Windows seem's to want a driver to install it, but the Asus cd does not have 64bit drivers that will allow them to install ?

should I try one of these drivers from the Asus site I linked to above ? thank's
