State your options too.

8800GTS 320MB Performance 580/950

1280x720 AAx4 AFx16 HDR Medium, everything else default
Snow
50FPS AVG

Cave
45FPS AVG

1360x768 AAx4 AFx16 HDR Medium, ALL OPTIONS DEFAULT.
Snow
47FPS AVG

Cave
44FPS AVG

So it shows that I made a good choice on the 320MB for the price, for my setup at least. I think the fire was tacky.

Wow you seem to be getting much higher fps than me.

8800GTX 634/972
1280x720 AAx4 AFx16 Everything high

Snow
24FPS AVG

Cave
27FPS AVG

I did set High Quality texture filtering and Supersampling AA in my control panel though.

OK I ran the test again this time with all default settings. I set normal quality texture filtering and turned off SSAA settings in the control panel.

8800GTX 634/972
1280x720 AAx4 AFx16 Everything else default
DX10
Snow 64
Cave 31

Its weird that the snow fps increased a lot while cave fps barely changed.

DX10 @ Default settings:
Snow 32
Cave 45

AA Defaulted to off. AF16x.

Default Settings (Shadow Quality set to low though)
720P - 1280 X 720

22 FPS Snow
28 FPS Cave

Sucks....8800GTS 320mb too...

wow these numbers are rather...low. Basically you absolutely need an 8800gts to run this game worth a damn. :\

Guys I am noticing a HUGE PATTERN HERE. If I go into the PC Settings and change anything, even lower shadows or put shadow resolution on low I LOSE FPS. I have tried this with multiple settings and with the exception of resolution, I LOST FPS by lowering the graphics options(i.e. shadows, motion blur, hdr).

So I think that there is defiantly something fishy going on with the drivers.

1280x720(goofy ass res)

16AA/16AF-All game settings Maxed to high(including Reverb) Shadows are the only thing at medium.

56 Snow
51Cave

With the settings above and default setting in the game, the result is as follow:
DX10
E6600 @ 3.6ghz
8800GTX 680/1050
1920x1200 (default is 1920x1080?)
Snow: 34
Cave: 54

How do you capture the screen?

I couldnt get above 4 or 5 fps even at 640x480 with medium settings. Overclocking my card slowed it down even worse. DX10 and 8600gt suck that bad??

Well your CPU isnt exactly powerful enough to feed a GTX....I would say thats the problem

8600GT is about a 7600GS performance wise. But I'd expect about 20 FPS tops, not 5

8600gt is much better than a 7600gs and also a 7600gt. It easily beats the 7600gt not to mention 7600gs at 1024x768. At 1280 or above and with AA it is not much better than a 7600gt.

This game will actually peg both of my cores at full load from time to time

I was trying to say that the 8600gt was much better than the 7600gs but still somewhat better than the 7600gt. In some games like Stalker the 8600gt is actually much better than a 7600gt. Even so the 5 to 10 fps in most other games is a lot in some cases. Its not like I went from 100fps to 105fps which would not be noticeable. I ran benchmarks with the 7600gt and 8600gt in my own system and being that I play mostly at 1024x768 on my crt the 8600gt made more sense. Also the 8600gt overclocks much better than the 7600gt. Like I already said at 1280 or above the 8600gt is not much better if any than the 7600gt. You saying the 8600gt was equal to the 7600gs was pretty far off though.

Anyone have DX9 vs. DX10 benchmarks (with the same system)? It would be interesting to see if DX10 performed better or worse (or the same) as DX9.

My mistake on the 7600GS, but a 5 FPS difference to the 7600 is very much equal and not worth buying if you already had that 7600GT, you might as well have bought another 7600GT and went SLI, not like you're gonna play Crysis or as you can see, Lost Planet at anything playable on DX10 anyhow

Ok that means I would have to have a motherboard that did SLI. The deal was I had just bought the 7600gt a couple weeks before the 8600gt came out. The 7600gt fan was so damn annoying that I tried the 8600gt just for the heck of it. Of course I kept it and returned the 7600gt. CC had the 8600gt for $149 after $20 rebate which wasnt bad for the first week of release. I agree it would have been foolish to replace the 7600gt with an 8600gt.

I didn't think it would do it, but it is! All settings high except for shadows (medium) and HDR (low, I can't stand HDR :D ) Will post framerates at these settings as soon as I can get Fraps working in Vista.
maxedout.jpg

fraps works fine for me in Vista but why dont you use the games built in test like everybody else?

On that, I was getting 65-70fps on one part and around 35-40fps on the other. This was with 4xAA, but increasing the AA doesn't make that much difference, so I'm think it's a CPU thing, so I'll be re-overclocking my CPU tonight or tomorrow. :)

Oh, it's no problem.

The easiest is to go to FilePlanet or you might get a faster dl at FileFront... the links are further down that page though. If you have Windows Vista and a DirectX 10 Capable card, go with the DX10 version. Otherwise go with the DirectX 9 Version.

Does anyone know why the res is limited to 1366x760 when the max res of my display is 1680x1050?

Vista and an 8800GTS 640 :D. I'm pulling it down at 750 KBytes/sec at the moment from gamershell, with no line like fileplanet had :). Thanks :). Results forthcoming...

Wow, sounds like the quad-core really does make a difference, comparing your results to others in the thread.

EDIT: I get an error saying it can't find "d3dx10_33.dll" when I try to launch the game :(.

EDIT2: Apparrently http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...e1-6aef-4a40-bd00-f0fb2a71e99f&DisplayLang=en fixes it per the other thread.

Moved my screen shot to the other one talking about the game itself
