Anyone know where I can get this driver for the M2N-E mobo.

Also, I know we can get it from Microsoft, but why should we be forced to use up one of our two free support tickets just to get a driver that we should be able to get for free?? I have look on the ASUS site and have tried the intel download workaround to no avail.

Here you go. Just download it from Gigabyte's website. It is the standard UAA driver and there is no difference from board to board. http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/Driver_Model.aspx?ClassValue=Motherboard&ProductID=2373&ProductName=GA-M61PM-S2

Looks like there is a difference...it didn't work. I contacted Asus and they told me to get in touch with Microsoft. MS wants to charge me $60 to open a support tickets so I can get a driver that may not even work.

Anyone else have any good ideas?

Try it this way:
completely uninstall any current audio drivers.
reboot.
when your New Hardware Found wizard starts up, just click CANCEL.
install UAA driver.
reboot.
again, when your New Hardware Found wizard starts up, just click CANCEL.
install normal audio driver for your mobo.

1. completely uninstall any current audio drivers.
Result: The only audio drivers showing in device manager are the legacy audio drivers and there is no option to uninstall them.

2. when your New Hardware Found wizard starts up, just click CANCEL.
New Hardware Wizard does not come up even when I change my BIOS setting from Disabled to Auto for HD Audio and manually look for new hardware via Add New Hardware

3. install UAA driver.
I don't have it and Microsoft want to charge me $60 to contact them to get it.

4. again, when your New Hardware Found wizard starts up, just click CANCEL.
install normal audio driver for your mobo

See previous.

So my questions....how do I make windows see that there is new hardware, how do I manually check for audio drivers besides using device manager, and where do I get the UAA driver?

Your audio drivers may be listed in the control panel under "Add or remove programs"

If you don't want to try the UAA drivers from the Gigabyte site, how about these two places:

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/download.aspx?url=/11524/eng/UAA.zip&agr=y&ProductID=954&DwnldId=11524&strOSs=All&OSFullName=All+Operating+Systems&lang=eng

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericSoftwareDownloadIndex?cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&softwareitem=ob-45977-2&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

That's really all that can be done for you. Even if you think the UAA drivers are for another board, just try it - it can't hurt you, and they really are univeral...

No audio drivers are listed in Add/Remove. I have tried these two links. It looks like the drivers install ok, but Soundmax still complains about the HDA Audio bus driver not being installed. When I try the one from HP, I click to install and it seems like nothing really happens. I am not sure if this is because this computer is not made by HP/Compaq.
