I think I can guess what the outcome will be, but perhaps this would help for more games to be developed with a aspect ratio selection in mind such as HL2:Source. What type of display are you using o/s and resolution

Display: HP LC3200
O/S: Vista 64
Resolution:1280x720.

Almost all of the computer widescreen displays are 16:10, like my 2005fpw not 16:9. Causes a little havoc with movies, giving you tiny black bars on 16:9 flicks, but otherwise its all good.

I like widescreen starting at 1080p / 1920x1200. 1680x1050 and below just doesn't cut it when you're used to 1600x1200.

Once again...yet another poll I can't vote in because of the choices.:p

16:10 20" WS LCD

Yeah sorry about the 16:10 option, just vote 16:9 if your'e a widescreen owner.

Also most LCDs out there are 17" or 19" 5:4 1280x1024 displays.

4:3 LCDs are rare.

Wide screen. Always.

Dell 2405FPW
Vista32
1920x1200
8800GTS 640mb

Display: Dell 2007WFP
O/S: Vista64
Resolution:1680x1050

been playing at widescreen for a couple years now and i can't see myself going back.

This poll sucks. Where's 5:4 and 16:10? Some screens and video projectors even have a 15:9 aspect ratio (1280x768), but they are rare.

NEC LCD2490WUXi
1920x1080 preferred resolution if game supports it
XP Pro

Dell 17" Widescreen laptop
1920x1080 preferred resolution if my lappy can handle it
XP Pro

Samsung 226BW
1680x1050 16:10
Uses: Gaming, Movies, Internet, everything.

Viewsonic VX924
1280X1024 5:4
Uses: anything the widescreen can't show due to use

Moving from 1600x1200 to 1920x1080 on the Westinghouse. As I move more from strategy games to mmorpg's, I need the extra horizon line over the vertical space that was more useful on a looking-down game. Incompatible games are run in vitualized systems running in 1280x1024 windows.

do you realize you get a markedly wider viewing angle (ie advantage) in css with widescreen?

Yes I realize this, but with the years passing by, I've gotten so used to 640x480 for css that I'm worthless without it, the whole feel is different, if you played a lot you'd know what I meant.

Display: Viewsonic VX2025WM
OS: XP Pro 32-bit

Was using my 19" standard for a long time, and while it wasn't the biggest impact, I have to say that widescreen is way cool in my book :D

I would had selected 16:10 if you had that as a option so i picked 16:9. either way I cant go back to 4:3 gaming I cant stand it. I like Gaming on Widescreren LCds because I can see more then I could with the last 4:3 montior i had. and it feels more natural to me.

Display:WestingHouse L2410NM (16:10)

I havent used a 4:3 screen in a very long time. I remember getting my Dell 8500 laptop in widescreen and I never went back.

1680X1050 WIdescreen here. Recently converted from 4:3, and I am pleased with the decision. Plus, the LCD widescreen panels are so much less expensive.
