Well last night i was playing around testing and playing crysis so i thought i would benchmark it on my system at bone stock speeds and then compare that to the results i already have running my system over clocked. the results couldn't have been further from what i thought. anyways here are the numbers.

CPU Test-CPU @ 3.0GHz
!TimeDemo Run 3 Finished.
Play Time: 41.25s, Average FPS: 36.37
Min FPS: 22.72 at frame 196, Max FPS: 44.25 at frame 135
Average Tri/Sec: 29036748, Tri/Frame: 798469
Recorded/Played Tris ratio: 0.90
TimeDemo Play Ended, (4 Runs Performed)

CPU Test-CPU @ 2.5GHz
!TimeDemo Run 3 Finished.
Play Time: 42.24s, Average FPS: 35.51
Min FPS: 18.64 at frame 196, Max FPS: 44.18 at frame 134
Average Tri/Sec: 28310124, Tri/Frame: 797187
Recorded/Played Tris ratio: 0.90
TimeDemo Play Ended, (4 Runs Performed)

GPU Test-CPU @ 2.5GHz Video card @ 576 1350 850
!TimeDemo Run 3 Finished.

Min FPS: 23.73 at frame 1946, Max FPS: 59.45 at frame 71
Average Tri/Sec: 33563796, Tri/Frame: 886148
Recorded/Played Tris ratio: 1.03

GPU Test-CPU @ 2.5GHz Video Card @ 621 1512 1900
!TimeDemo Run 3 Finished.
Play Time: 50.27s, Average FPS: 39.79
Min FPS: 24.08 at frame 1949, Max FPS: 62.84 at frame 65

One to two frames per second defference i couldn't believe it, and this is using the built in Crysis benchmark. so i thought i will go and play through the demo betting that actual game play wouldn't be as smooth. wrong again it plays just as smooth as ever, it looks just as good, i don't notice if the game is scaling anything back, i am still running at 1680x1050 med setting.

So is it because at the res i running at that my 8800 320 can handle the load, i don't know all i know is running my CPU at 3.0GHz or 2.5 doesn't seem to have whole lot of affect on how well crysis runs. Has anyone else tried this?? turning down your over clocks and see if performance changes. what do you guys think?

the game is not CPU bound on your system apparently, the graphics card in your system is the bottleneck so to speak, which is why performance directly increases when you ramp up the vid card clocks but barely changes at all when ramping up CPU clock speed

yah, that noticeable not just through average, but in the min FPS and max aswell. Some considerable differences there.

I noticed about a 5-10 fps difference in Crysis and other games after overclocking the gpu. I did the GPU test as a reference and my avg fps went from 28.7 to 36.49 @ high settings @ 1280x1024. That's a pretty big difference for several mouse clicks if you ask me.

PS: How do you spawn the rocket launcher in the editor? It looks fun after running the cpu test. :D
