Are you sure the deals are this Friday November 2nd? I didn't see anything on the page that said what the dates valid were.

It says clearly that it is this Friday. So I think were good to go. I wonder if the other stores will price match this as well.

holy smokes !! I might have to stop by the wal-mart !

Go HD-DVD !!

$150 players sale prices for christmas season? that will kill off blu-ray !

no 1080p output :(
Your right. Expecting me to pay 99$ for a HD DVD Player that does not do 1080P is unacceptable
I purchased the same unit for 250 and just for the upscaling it kicks some serious but. I had a DVI Foroudja DVD Upscaler and this unit blows it away. Just like with DVDs, theres good and bad transfers on HD DVDs. Chronicles of Ridick looks awesome at 1080i compared to the DVD version. Only drawback is that I don't have a HDMI receiver so I'm not hearing the improved sound (using the optical cable). Don't let the HDMI out scare you if you have a DVI TV. I use a HDMI-DVI cable picked up at monoprice for 8$ and the picture looks great.
Tempted to go Friday to pick up another for the master bedroom.

Uh, so in one sentence you are bagging on people who pay a lot for a DVI cable, yet in the previous you are saying you get better quality sound on hdmi rather than optical? *shakes head*

nooo I have to go to school at 8am on friday lol DAMNIT, do you guys think these will be gone right when they open?

ill be there at 7.30, think I can get it or will there be a shitty line

hope not.

I've had my Mintek DVD player for almost six years now. That is quite impressive for a no-name brand. I got it at bestbuy in Nov. 2001 when it was $110. I was the first person in my family to own a dvd player and since nearly everybody has followed. I think my aunt still has a VCR and shes the only one. :-D

I was suppose to go into work early on Friday to get ready to go out of town for the weekend. I think I'm going to tell them to pick me up on the way out since they are coming out my way.

If you buy one right now, I wonder if they will let you price match it Friday morning.

I'm pretty sure they will have some sort of line.

If you have a 1080p television already, the television will deinterlace the signal back to 1080p without a quality degradation, assuming you have a half way decent 1080p television that can deinterlace properly.

But this deal is hottttttttttttttt! I'm in for one. w00000t!

Look like the format war is getting closer and closer to being over.

the player being 1080i DOES NOT MATTER to the widest majority of people. The ONLY people who would really be concerned about this are people who are home theater buffs wanting 1080p/24 support.

For everyone else, your 1080p television will simply deinterlace, you do NOT lose quality, remember, the media itself is 1080p content.

For that matter, I hope you people who are clueless and bitch about 1080i dont watch ANY hd tv shows because everything you're watching is being scaled and deinterlaced to 1080p from 720p and 1080i.

I just bought one at circuit city last night!! I'm going to wal-mart and returning it if I get one there. The thing is pretty sweet. It had trouble updating the firmware over the Internet so I had to download and burn a CD at a very low speed for it to work. I really like the player and for $100 you just can't go wrong.

To get in on this, you'd need to camp out tonight. I'm not even going to bother, the lines are going to be murder. :(

Anyone buying this make sure you have a free optical audio input. Mine's used by the 360, so I can't use this player without an optical switcher, which isn't worth it.

Or a free digital coax. Optical to coax adapters run about $15 on ebay.
