What's faster. AMD X2 @ 2.6Ghz w/ 840Mhz Ram or AMD X2 @ 2.8Ghz w/ 750Mhz RAM?

just curious.

I'll run PCmark and figure it out if anyone wants to know for sure.

What are your guesses?

Yeah id say 2.8ghz with lower ram,,especially if you run tight timing and 1T which i have done..:D

There's little difference between dual channel DDR2-667 and dual channel DDR2-800 on AM2, which is bigger than the difference between 750MHz and 840MHz: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=493&num=5 The 200MHz clock speed difference will give a much bigger improvement.

those benchmarks are pathetic....I can't believe it doesn't matter at all.....

That's on a 410 nvidia board, could it be the chipset that's causing the lack of benefit from running the faster ram?

The memory controller is in the CPU and the memory is directly connected to the CPU. :p

If you want a feel good benchmark, run a Sandra memory bandwidth test and that might show a bigger improvement. That doesn't mean it will translate to most real applications though.

And welcome to the disappointment that is K8 on AM2. :p
