the changes i have made are the mobo, and PSU i was told that 680i chipset was not good for q6600 and other quadcores so i am now going with the ABIT IP35 PRO and i will upagrade to an SLI board later if i need it, and the PSU i am going with after being reccomnded by many [H]er's is the CORSAIR CMPSU-620HX the modular cables is sweet also and im sure it will be enough since i am not going to be doing SLI right away

right now the motherboard is really the only thing holding me back from clicking the buy button im not sure what board i should be getting for my gaming build here but the ABIT IP35 PRO does look badass and i want a board for some overclocking and stability.

the only other change i made was i am going to get 2 of the 150GB RAPTORS for RAID 0 should increase the performance,

i think this build is looking pretty solid

i think this build is looking pretty sweet just not sure about the mobo and chipset i should get, and also i need a case that will be able to accomodate the thermalright Ultra 120 HSF people say it huge and does not fit in all cases !

what do you guys say, i plan to order this within the next few days

which website are you ordering from? are you just ordering the parts or having someone build the machine?

somebody build my machine LOL thats not [H]ard

all those parts are from newegg, but i will be getting the Q6600 GO stepping from clubit

i also need a case for this if you have any suggestions,

yea, my bad. it seems no one on these forums actually orders a computer pre-made ... i'm not really that keen on building my machine from scratch, and have been tryin' to get some help on a pre-made machine to no avail ...

.:sigh:.

Ditch the GTX. The new revised version of the 8800GTS (the 8800GTS 512MB) performs on par or better than the GTX in some cases. And it's significantly cheaper:
EVGA 512-P3-N841-A3 GeForce 8800GTS (G92) 512MB PCI-E Video Card - $360

Also, if my guess is right, that G.Skill 4GB RAM set is the GNBQ set right? if so, ditch em. They've gone up in price to $145 or so. Get the GBMQ set instead:
G.SKILL F2-6400CL5D-4GMPQ 2 x 2GB DDR2 800 RAM - $95

As for cases, the Antec P182 I know for sure can fit the Ultra 120 Extreme with no problem.:
Antec P182 ATX Case - $115

Though here a few other case suggestions that I think can fit the Ultra 120 Extreme as well:
Thermaltake Armor VA8000BWS Full Tower ATX Case - $137
Lian Li PC-A16A ATX Case - $150
Thermaltake Armor VA8003BWS Full Tower ATX Case - $150
Coolermaster Cosmos 1000 RC-1000-KSN1-GP Full Tower ATX Case - $156
Lian-Li V1000A Plus II ATX Case - $180
COOLER MASTER Stacker RC-832-KKN1-GP Full Tower ATX Case -$200
Lian Li PC-V1200 ATX Case (Silver) - $210
Lian Li PC-V1200 ATX Case (Black) - $214
Lian-Li PC-V1100A PLUS II ATX Case - $220
Lian Li PC-V1200B Plus II ATX Case - $240

I agree with Danny Bui on all points. A GTX is dead in the water now. If you buy one, you'll be remorseful later. If you're set on getting the best and/or most expensive card nVidia has to offer, postpone your build a few months until the GTX replacement is released. Otherwise, consider an 8800 GT card, or the new 8800 GTS 512 meg card, which exceeds GTX speeds in many games.

Mark.

ok thanks for the help other than the 8800 gtx does everything look good to go all I need is a case and I do like that gunmetal one you posted. Also for the LCD I am really looking at the samsung 226bw to go with this any input on a badass monitor for this build. I plan to order everything tonigt or tomorrow and I have been out of the loop so long I have np idea what to look for in a nice LCD I want it mainly for gaming and look great watching movies and all kinds of video

You're building almost the exact rig I just put together (see sig.)

Buy the Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX case. Trust me on this. You wont be sorry.

Only thing I hate is the motherboard. The IP35 has this 'feature' where each time you turn on your computer it starts up for about 5 seconds then turns off. Then starts up again. At first I thought something was f****d up. I have no clue why it does that but it's kinda annoying.

I have a thermalright 120 extreme on my Q6600 quad core with room to spare in my Antec 900 case. If you read reviews on Newegg with the case I'm sure people comment that heatsink fits just perfectly :)

I like your BUILD #3 list, just because I like the intel based mobo over the 680i. Like someone else already said, id get the 512MB GTS.

This is a known issue with that MB which to my understanding gets fixed with the latest BIOS update.
