Hello,

I've finally bought W241D. I was waiting for Samsung 245T, but reports about severe inverse ghosting made me to bought the cheapest PVA 24'' LCD with HDMI and component input. First tests that I've done are input lag (just before I'm throwing away my old 17'' Sony CRT ;)).

Setup:
I don't have greate camera, so pics are a bit low quality. Settings are: shutter speed 1/1250, 400 ISO. Monitors in Clone mode, ATI Radeon 9550 card  (unfortunatelly my GFX fried and I'm left with this thing till January 2008 :D )

The results are quite interesting and very consistent. All shots shows 47ms, 31-32ms or 15-16ms lag.

2 resolution tests.

1280x1024
99 shots taken, 32 shots readable

Average input lag 24,32 ms

2 shots with 47 ms lag
14 shots with 31-32ms lag
16 shots with 15-16ms lag

1920x1200
103 shots taken, 37 shots readable

Average input lag 25,46 ms

4 shots with 47 ms lag
16 shots with 31-32ms lag
16 shots with 15-16ms lag
1 shot with 0ms lag !!! (probably just a coincidence)

Looks like it's one of the best 24'' PVA LCD regarding input lag! But input lag is not everything and I'm not impressed with W241D. I'm rather a bit disappointed :( More later, when I find time.

Thanks for the comparisons. This kind of input lag is extremely important for me as well.

whats the duration time during the 99 shots taken?
I don't understand why there seem to be such constant 'gaps' between ms differences. (47ms, 31-32ms or 15-16ms lag)
What exactly causes this inconsistancy?

and FYI, tftcentral did input lag testing on Samsung 245B too. That monitor's average input lag was 7.5ms

The shots for 1280x1024 resolution were taken during 95 seconds period, for 1920x1200 - 78 seconds.

It looks like the observed 15-16ms increments (47ms ~ 3 * 15/16ms and 32ms ~ 2 * 15/16ms) is connected with the refresh rate of LCD and CRT. Both were 60 Hz, so 15/16 ms is one frame. Input lag for W241D is 1 or 2 frames with very rare cases of 3 frames.
After more consideration I think I didn't have to set shutter speed of 1/1250. 1/120 or 1/250 would probably give more readable shots

Samsung 245B is TN monitor ? PVA is worse regarding input lag, isn't it ?

paviko, are you currently residing in the US? if so, where did you buy that monitor from?

I'm in Europe. Strange that it's still not available in the US.
