Here are some results I got with my recent upgrade from an 8800GT with stock cooler to an Accelero S1 rev2.

As you can see, with the stock cooler (first picture), Load temps were at 89/90 degrees C. Way too hot. And the fan never spun up (initial issues with release-date 8800's).
after switching (second picture), load temps were down near 56 degrees C. (sorry for the compression, photobucket ftl)

Not bad for $20 off the 'egg.

Test setup: See desktop in sig. Also, there was an Antec dual-pci-slot intake cooler:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...ntec&lp=12&type=product&cp=1&id=1124432441317
blowing at it, though from the bottom pci slots. Provides some breeze, but nowhere near what a fan mounted on the Accelero would.

Test consisted of ATi tool set for searching for artifacts while Nvidia's stock Ntune software monitored the temps. I Measured for ~5.5 minutes (same time on each setup to reach max temps) untill the max temps leveled off.

Not shown on the graph is that EACH cooler takes ~10 minutes to take the card back to idle temps. !!!

A note on installation, when applying the ram-sinks, press and hold them for a good minute or two. They don't stick right away.

EDIT: Oh btw, card @ stock settings.

I have the same (but older rev) on my 8800GT. Best $23 I;ve ever spent on cooling. The thing is amazing. It dropped my temp like a bomb.

just ordered one...off ebay... everywhere else is sold out.... cant wait to try it...

ordered the fan kit as well

I just got a 8800gt, my temps after playing graphic intensive games is around 68-70c and around 50-55 idle....how effective do you think adding this cooler would be to my card? a good 10c drop?

Accelero is great, I have one on my BFG 8800GT and it went from idling at around 55 degrees to around 35 degrees w/ Turbo module. AND it's quiet! Unfortunately for SLI users, you really can't use these without bending the crap out of some of the fins. Also the number of slots taken up can get crazy, especially with the turbo module. I have Zalman Fatal1ty FC-ZV9's on my SLI'd system and those work really well, but the temps aren't nearly as low...

Places do have the S2 in stock:

We were talking about the accelero s1 revision 2, not the accelero S2 ;)

Sorry, my bad...I have the S1 rev.2...I got thrown off by the title of the post...disregard all links in my post above...

WOW newegg has them now...l i just checked the other day and they was out of stock.... so i over paid about 10 bucks for it by going ebay

oh well happens

does adding the turbo fans on the accelero still run at the 30% fan speed like the stock 8800gt fan?

Right now I am using Rivatuner to turn my fan from 30% to 50% 70% and 100% depending on what I am doing or playing. I never really break 70c full load with the stock cooler but I still would like something better. I would really like the Thermalright HR-03gt but it's a little much for me at the moment.
So I am looking at one of these for my 8800gt

Accelero S2

Accelero S1 Rev 2
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186016

They look to be pretty similar other than the fact that the S1 Rev2 has more heatpipes and slightly different dimensions, I would assume both perform within degrees of each other so I think I would be fine going with the Accelero S2?

The S2 is not enough for the 8800gt, it cannot dissipate enough heat. You will need the S1.

My 8800GT 512MB
+S1 rev.2+ turbo module

30c Idle, highest load I seen was 40c after hours of Crysis, but other games only load at 35-38C.

I'm looking for better cooling for my GT. Would I expect better OCing with one of these S1 on a palit 8800gt (stock cooler)? Right now i can push the clock to 650/950/1610 (shader) no problems. Load temps are 79C @ 55% fan speed. Anything over 670 or so and i get artifacts.
