Extremely HOT!!! BFG 8800GTS (G92) 512MB $240 AR + free shipping

Fry's rings up for me as $329 when it's in the cart.

oh ya thanks for pointing that out i was starting to doubt my decision to pull the trigger.

i don't think the 8800gts 512's will be falling much lower than $240 in the next month.

Nice. I have been eyeing the parts to build a completely new rig, and just got a nice tax rebate check. I need to bolt a roof on my house though.

Damn being a responsible adult.

At least, this will buy me some time. Should be a nice upgrade from the trusty x1800xt.

grrr so tempting...

2 9600gts for 340 ish or one of these for 260

Nice.

Would have grabbed this if I didnt get the Fry's one.

Last weeekend frys had the card for $259 in store. Plus the $30 mail in so $229. Tad more with tax.

I'm about to do a new build, but I just may have to pull the trigger on this.

I mostly play CSS and TF2 at 1920x1200, Do you think my processor would be holding me back too badly in the mean time.
AMD 3500 OC to 2.3, 1GB RAM, DFI lan party nF4-d, 2x 250 sata striped. I know it's a lot better than my x800XL which is oc about 10% on both mem and gpu to keep up with 1920x1200

how do these new cards compare in performance to the gtx they had on sale last week?

unbelievable... and to think - i bought mine from BFG like 2 months ago for $300 at $100 hardocp discount... awesome card, noticeably faster than my old 8800GTS640. get it.

I'm thinking about the same upgrade.

What games do you notice a big difference in? How does F.E.A.R. compare?

i went from the gts 640 to the gt to the gts 512. i shouldnt have bothered. if you are playing f.e.a.r. you should be at max settings already with a gts 640. i paid like $430 for my gts 640 11/9/2006. my 2 gts 512's cost about $570. if you bought your 640 last year, you can probably get 2x gts 512 for around 5 and change, which is a hell of an upgrade for less than $100. but you would have to already have an sli board.

CS:S and TF2 (well any Source game) is massively CPU dependent. I went from a Opteron146 to a e8400, and the difference is simply ridiculous. I was using the same 8800GT I had before, and I was able to go to max resolution while getting nearly double minimum FPS in open areas.

That said, I wouldn't go much below a 7900GT ish performance (I guess that's 8600 GT now?) - in terms of a GPU minimum threshold.

I'm maxed, but get occasional slowdown (like when you fire a gun at water continuously for 15 seconds). Will the 512 help out?

What do you regret about the upgrade?

I bought two of them today to put into my new system using a 780i chipset. With a Q6600 and 8GB on Vista 64-bit what type of frame rate am I looking at playing Crysis? I have a 19" View Sonic LCD 1280x1024 max and a Sony 46XBR4 1920x1080 max (however I could run it in 720p).

Great, I was planning on getting a E8400, I've just been waiting on finding one in stock.

i dont really regret it, but for the bump i got in performance, it wasnt it worth it. the gts g92 may have more sp's but the g80 has more ram and a wider bus. i should have stuck it out for whenever nvidia releases a decently priced (for me thats $400 - $500) card that really really out-performs the gts g80. but it worked out for me anyway as i got 2 x g92 at a good price and am back to sli.
