Real 9800GX2 tested benchmarks inside

how do these compare to a 8800 GTS 512Meg or an Ultra??

the zero's probably mean they couldn't get the game to work, but their site was to shabby and their techs to lazy to try to figure it out. i can't stand these expreview doinks. you can probably depend on them to post benchmarks early, but you can also depend on them to do shitty work.

Those look like pretty good results, no? I wonder how 2x8800gtx compares in the same situations.

From the actual review:
用控制面板打開4AA/16AF後,GeForce 9800GX2的遊戲性能表現下降較為嚴重,平均幀數不超過10幀,因此我們將其成績記為0

The FPS dropped to below 10 so they considered it the same as not working and treated it as 0.

Holy cow! I just ordered a 3870x2 earlier today--which was just cancelled. :) I'm looking forward to this card.

Driver issues for Intel chip sets:

Cliffs:
- On a Gigabyte X48 board only 3D Mark managed to run, other games get errors or blue screen.
- You need to enable SLI in the drivers to use both GPU.

Looks like another 7950GX2...

there was a water bug for 3870x2 may be that there is reason why it is so slow against 9800gx2

Are those FPS results average or the max?

Must be min and max.

You don't even have to be able to read Chinese to know it's not min and max.

Its clearly spelled out on each benchmark:
4aa/16af
0aa/0af

It stands to reason that these can not be min/max, therefore they are averages at the aforementioned settings.

Anyways, these things are still going to be ridiculously overpriced, and imho still underpowered.
Hell, if you have an SLI capable motherboard, then you could get these very same results with a pair of $200 G92 8800GT's, and even better results with a pair of $250 8800GTS G92's, and still have $100-200 to spare.

NV is just milking us at this point, and it's a damned shame that ATI has nothing to really counter them with, save for the 3870x2, but its performance is rather inconsistent.
Here's hoping that Intel can shake things up a bit if/when they decide to enter the discrete graphics market.

are "official" drivers even launched for the 9800GX2 yet? couldn't that be a problem with bad benches? i mean, these benches are showing that nvidia is having problems with aa, which we all know is not usually their weak point when compared to ati.

The 9800GX2 is still on early drivers still so it can be said that they are not fine tuned & optimized as of yet. The 3870X2 has seen a few catalyst drivers already that have improved it a bit from its launch. I did noticed the 0's though so there still " may " be some issues to work out. If it's not user error anyways. Overall, if these benchmarks are those of actual gameplay & not canned ones, then they may a hell of a card on there hands.

These reviews uses drivers that doesn't support 9800 GX2.. they just released drivers with improved GX2 support..

Does this mean it won't work on an Intel board at all? Or is it a driver thing?

Darn it.. forget that my last post..it was simple brain fart. There are already younger driver out there for 9800 GX2:
ForceWare 174.51 which is only for this one card.

It's alright. I guess in a few days time, we shall see updated benchmarks with that driver.

Was it 9600 GT which didn't do that well in these test that Chinese sites did with pre-release drivers? Some even had results on par with HD3850 256 or HD3850 512. In these more recent tests 9600 GT have been on par with HD3870.

So 9800GX2 is somewhat faster than 3870X2, except glitchier, buggier, and twice the price?

I think I'd rather get a pair of 3870X2s or a pair of 9800 GTXs at this point.

It usually takes a few driver releases for a card to start to show its potential. I can tell you right now there is quite the difference from the pre release 3870x2 drivers & the ones available at this very moment. Im expecting the same from Nvidia. According to a majority of these early benchmarks being released, the card seems to be very fast in higher resolutions but is taking a much larger hit when AA is enabled compared to the 3870. Along with optimizing the card further , that will have to be really looked at.

I'd suggest you wait for [H] first before making any decision. Just wait 4 days more.
