when is the intel price drop i know it is somtime this month.
anyone know what the q6600s are going down to many thanks

The price drop will occur on 22nd of April.

Q6600 will not be that much cheaper. Going from $266 down to $224.
The biggest drop is expected for Q6700, about 50%, from $530 to $266. So basically you could get a Q6700 for todays price of Q6600.

Seems like the price keeps dropping all the time ...

Heck ... one user has 8 of the NEW QX9650 on ebay for $800 ... was $1099 not too long ago ....

Here's a chart for you:

Cool I;m glad I didn't wait a month to buy my stuff now after reading this.....as E4500 isn't even on the list and getting a 4600 for $11 less wasnt worth waiting a month for......

I thought we were gonna see the drops around the 21st, so this makes sense. I believe i heard about 200 dollar Q6600s but now im hearing 229?

MicroCenter is *still* running their in-store-only Q6600 sale @ $200USD.

That $229 is the regular tray price each in 1,000-unit quantities.

However, as long as the Q6600 sale goes on, the lowliest quad is *still* cheaper than a retail E8200 (same store!) will run you. Also, notice that Q9300 is on the list, but so far unavailable (though it will likely replace Q6600 as The Lowliest Intel Quad).

Speaking of Q9300, it's interesting in several ways:

1. This will apparently be the bottom-end Yorkfield (and is based on a doubled Wolfdale-3MB cache die). It has a faster FSB (but less cache) than the Q6600 it will eventually replace, and will likely list for barely above the Q6600 simply because of the faster FSB.

2. Like Q6600, Q9300 is planned on a directly-into-the-mainstream launch (and the pricing reflects this).

3. There is planned overlap between Q9300 and Q6600 (and, to an extent, Q6700 as well). However, I suspect that most remaining Q6700 production will wind up in the retail and replacement channel, as opposed to OEM/new-build sales which will get Q9300 or even Q9450 instead.

I can't wait for the Q6700 to hit near $200. I've built most of the other ones already and I'd like to see if I can hit close to 4Ghz 24/7 on it. Everybody says it OC's just like the 6600 but I keep thinking I can do more with it.

Looking foward to the Q6600 dropping in price. Will allow for a two new folding rigs :)
