just seen this press release for a new EAX capable asus soundcard:
http://www.techreport.com/discussions.x/14382

what is the difference between the Asus AV200 chip as used in the Asus D2(X) cards and the Asus AV100 chip used in this new Asus soundcard?

I guess they are both C-Media, but what............?

Regards

Looks interesting..
Maybe creative let go of yet another license... although I'm not a big fan of creative drivers.
The Asus AV200 chip I think was just another CMI 8788, with custom drivers and such.

Indeed, Asus does not makes semiconductors. EAX Support is most likely done in software.

The av100 chip is just a name...
The asus actually used the CMI8788 chip on the DX2 and D2, made drivers for them, and called it the av200, to appear different from all the other CMI8788 cards(sondigo inferno, bluegears b-enspirer, ht omega claro(+), auzentech meridian).
The DX is the first card to feature the so called "av100", and I think the card's supposed to be released tomorrow, so no one really knows how it sounds.
