Unlocking the iPhone 3G, Vietnamese Style
CNET has an article about how a little shop in Hanoi can unlock an iPhone 3G via hardware. It’s an interesting read, complete with pics. I’m sure Apple appreciates their logo on the shop’s window.

wow not bad at all! But is it just me but it took longer to unlock the 3g then the first iphone?

Lol I went to vietnam a year ago, and boy there are more cell phone repair shops than you can possibly imagine. I guess unlocking iphones is one way to stick out.

Pretty damn cool - mad props for the finesse and coordination needed for the soldering!
$80 is a steal for that kind of labor.
