Microsoft, Yahoo in Talks Again

Microsoft and Yahoo are trying to work on a search deal, according to the London Times. They report that the $20 Billion deal for Yahoo’s search business has been agreed upon in broad terms but details are still being worked out and there’s no guarantee that it will be finalized.

Quote:
There is a management vacuum at Yahoo after Jerry Yang, the group’s co-founder, said this month that he will step down as chief executive as soon as the board finds a successor. He opposed the earlier Microsoft deal and an advertising alliance with Google that he championed broke down because of competition fears.
UPDATE 11/30 1342CT: Reuters has an article stating that this rumored deal is "total fiction."

Micro$haft wins again.

Yahoo was such a fun loving company... Ruined soon.

I don't see how buying Yahoo! will help Microsoft. If only Microsoft could buy Google.

Well, seeing as how they're trying to beat Google in the search business, and buying Yahoo! will put them in the #1 spot, I don't see where the confusion could possibly be.

Ah, ok. I didn't know buying Yahoo! would make them #1. My bad.

Thanks for informing me...

Yahoo actually gets more hits then Google.

Yahoo and MS together would have double the traffic of Google.

Microsoft is batshit crazy, they try to beat everyone and conquer everything, while neglecting the core of their business.

I was going to say... I seriously don't see this happening again until Yahoo goes belly up. I was going to say it's nothing more than a rumor, and it appears so

Jerry Yang ruined Yahoo...there isn't much else MS could do to mess it up further.

Why would they? Yahoo is actually more appealing.
A) Their fundamentals are solid. They've actually got one heck of a search engine, the implementation could just use some improvements.
B) Yahoo comes with COMMUNITY. There's so freaking many Yahoo accounts and Yahoo folks using their tools it's ridiculous. Microsoft would also buy into this.
C) CHEAP. Let Yahoo die out, then buy. Of course you've got to make sure your users don't leave before this happens.
