Benchmark was used on the system in the signature. (P.S. - F*** VRaptors)

WD Caviar Black 640GB -
2 x WD6401AALS (74.99 x 2 = $150) setup on ICH10R matrix raid.

Raid 0 Volume - 161gb - 128k stripe. (Second Volume is Raid 0 1119GB)

Slight Dip in minimum due to activity spike

Nice speeds! I've got 3 640GB WD Blues in Raid 0 short-stroked on my gaming rig. May update my desktop to 2 Blacks here shortly. Those access times are much better than mine.

That is from the Matrix RAID, it is only using the first chunk of the two drives where it is fastest.

That's a sweet trick. I plan on doing this as well.

But what happens when you do this trick with 2x VelociRaptors? Will you see access times < 5.0ms?
 
Thiose are nice numbers.

Do you think 32bit XP would be faster?
 
My system is much more geared towards Vista 64. I am not sure what your system is like, but it might perform better in XP 32.
