Hello,

I just built this new mobo and am trying to install WinXP Pro. My XP copy is one of the old original ones, pre-SP1. I have a SATA drive hooked up and it looks like this may be the issue.

Is there some BIOS setting I can use to help XP along or is there an XP Pro SP2 image/boot disk I can download? I have a valid key.

Thanks,
Michael

Use Nlite and slipstream SP2 into your old CD. If you google it, you'll find a guide to help you. That is definitely the issue though. You need SP2 minimum to install with new computer hardware.

Also dont forget Gigabyte / Intel drivers for the ICH10R chipset, SATA / Raid controllers.

Those are helpful also. I had to dig up a floppy because I hadn't put those on (actually, I put the AHCI, but not the RAID on  ). Now SP3 and the security rollup packages might as well be included too.
