Hi all,

I am looking to buy a 46" LCD TV specifically for #1 PC gaming and #2 watching movies off my computer - I think it's relevant that I post my PC specs ;
ASUS P5N-D - nForce 750i
Intel Q6600 CPU @ 3.0GHz
NVIDIA 9800 GTX 512MB (the original GTX, 65nm non+ version)
4GB DDR2 800MHz RAM (4x Corsair CM2X1024-6400)
Creative Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro sound card

my 9800 GTX video card has 2x DVI-I + HDTV-7/SVideo outputs, it also came with a HDTV cable that appears to connect from the HDTV-7/SVideo port to "Component IN" on a TV...

correct me please if I am wrong.

My research+budget has identified the following 5 TVs I've somewhat decided on - they are posted below... I'm really hoping others can post their suggestions, ideas and/or experiences with any of these TVs before I pull the trigger and buy one! :)

Samsung LN46A860
Samsung LN46A650, and/or LN46A750
Toshiba 46XV545U
Sony KDL-46Z410

I have a few questions & concerns about this purchase since it will be my first time stepping up to HiDef, hence the reason I am posting here.

the samsung A860 and A650 TV specs (via crutchfield links posted above) show that the Component IN accepts up-to 1080p, and the PC/D-Sub input accepts up-to something called "CVT 1920x1080RB" ( found via owner's manual ). btw, does anyone know what CVT 1920x1080RB is, and how it compares to 1080p??

the toshiba XV545U manual shows the Component IN only accepts up-to 1080i, yet it has SRT (built-in 1080p upconversion that I hear is pretty amazing) - I wonder if it upconverts the Component IN 1080i signal to 1080p? and if so, how that looks compared to native 1080p? of mention, the crutchfield page says "The Toshiba LCD TV displays all inputs at a resolution of 1080p (1920 x 1080)".. the samsung A750 also indicates it can only accept 1080i via Component IN connection, but the samsung doesn't upconvert if i understand things correctly... that has me concerned, but overall that samsung sounds pretty schweet, all 5 do! I gotta pick ONE.

Last of all: I'd really like to be able to connect my PC to the TV using true 1080p resolution without any need for upconversion --- soooo, can anyone tell me if my nVidia 9800 GTX would be compatible with a DVI-to-HDMI adapter? i.e. connect the DVI-to-HDMI adapter to the vid card via DVI-I, run a HDMI cable to the HDMI IN on the TV to get a true 1080p signal? all 5 TVs support 1080p via HDMI v1.3 connections.

wouldn't that produce the highest quality picture/resolution?

thanks! I look forward to yr comments,

nobody,eh?

being a newer "[H]Forum displays" reader it seems like alot of posts involve 20"-30" (s/e-)IPS capable computer monitors... maybe I could also ask why many of you went with that type of monitor instead of an LCD TV.. myself, I want to get another video card to run SLI, and a BFS (BIG Fuckin Screen), something to play the latest PC titles and watch DVD+bluray @ full 1080p from my PC on a 40"+ screen! that is what drew me to the LCD TVs, if anybody is reading this -- tell me, if you had $1500 for a 46" LCD TV (the 5 TVs I got posted up above) or a 24-30" s(e?)-IPS computer monitor -- which would you buy, and why??

thanks for everyones time.
