HP, Lenovo and Dell Get An E-Waste Penalty Point

Greenpeace has put out an updated guide to greener electronics that bashes HP, Lenovo and Dell over the head pretty hard for not cleaning up their act environmentally. Oddly enough, although Nintendo is dead last on the list (again) and makes more consoles than any other company on the planet, they were not even mentioned in the article.

HP, Lenovo and Dell had promised to eliminate vinyl plastic (PVC) and brominated flame retardants (BFRs) from their products by the end of 2009. Now they've told us that they won't make it this year. The phase-out of toxic substances is an urgent priority to help tackle the growing tide of e-waste. Still, producers only go green when they feel public and consumer pressure to do so. That's why we campaign.

I wonder how much Philips paid Greenpeace to make them jump "...from 15th to 4th place in one go."

This is eco-racketeering at this point. These motherfuckers need to be stopped once and for all. The entire green movement needs to die immediately.

Yup, I support eco- unfriendlyness. Screw the environment. It's not so much that I hate nature, it's that I hate hippies and seeing them get worked up and pissed off is entertainment for me.

The Earth will be fine, but we won't. I probably won't be around when that time arrives.

The only time anyone's ever going to pay attention to any of this is when the problem's so bad people start dieing at ~age 40 because of it.

Therefore, if we want any action to be taken, we should first destroy our environment as fast as possible.

PVC? Really?! You mean the same PVC that are used to make water pipes? I think if it is safe enough to drink water that has passed through it, it would be safe enough to use in a computer...

Most PVC is used for wastewater, not pressurized water.
