Mother’s Day Tech Gift Ideas

Mother’s Day is right around the corner and, since I know most of you have one (a mother), I want to hear your ideas on what tech-item would be a good gift for your mom, wife or “other” mother. I was going to go with this Panasonic 103-Inch Plasma HDTV for my wife since it is $20,000 off but unfortunately, even with the massive $20k discount, it is still about $49,900 out of my price range. Damn, I wanted that soo...I mean, she would have really liked that too. So let’s hear your Mother’s Day gift ideas.

I built my wife a smoking hot computer for Mother's Day.

1) Her old computer was dog-slow, so she is happy about having a faster computer.
2) She complained that the gesture wasn't 'romantic'.

Uh...help me out here, guys. Is Mother's Day, even for your wife/mother of your children supposed to be in any way, shape, or form 'romantic'? I thought it was meant primarily to show gratitude.

anyone who thinks mothers day is supposed to have romantic connotations is either crazy, or trying to get pregnant. ITS A TRAP!

I'll give you a hint. Give her something SHE wants, not what YOU want.

My wife is going to get a new home theater next mother's day. And it really is for her! (She can't stand our current 27" low-def CRT, but refuses to allow an LCD, because she wants a 100" projection screen in the basement.

Bless her... Brings a tear to my eye.

I'm getting my mother some Bailey's. She seems to enjoy that. When all else fails: chocolate. You can't lose.

He just said that she DID want that, she just didn't think it was "romantic". I'm going to have to agree with other people here and say that Mother's Day really isn't a romantic holiday, but rather for showing respect for the difficulty that being a mother entails.

She wanted a new computer, and mine is faster anyway. But she ALSO wants something romantic. I just didn't realize that Mother's Day has morphed into a lover's holiday. (*whorf*)

See, this is the problem. Nearly every person has talked about buying something for their wife, and while they may also be a mother, what about your mother? I think that was the point of this topic, really.

That's why this keeps turning into romantic stuff. Valentine's Day, your wife's birthday, and your anniversary are all "romantic" occasions. Mother's Day is not.

My mom and tech don't really mix. I got her a tote bag and matching eyeglass case. No batteries, no display screen, nada.

I'm getting my mom one of those Brother Sewing/Embroidery machines that you can download patterns for off the internet, and let it interact with your PC.
hmmmm.... I wonder if its possible to network your mom's sewing machine somehow :P

My mom actually wanted a Roomba for mother's day, so she won't have to clean as much. Not too bad of a gift for mother's day, since I'll end up using it too, if she doesn't go too crazy with it..

I'm can only think of techy things but those can't do any justice now. This must be something else. Though a new tv is seriously on the to get list.
