First iPhone 3G 2009 Screens Leaked?

Gizmodo put up some pics that were leaked on a Hong Kong blog of what is believed to be the next gen iPhone 3G that is rumored to be released this summer. Gizmodo believes that these photos are the real deal. What do you think?

Quote:
These could very well be the first shots of the new iPhone, featuring the new compass in action—which the current iPhone lacks—and video functions, as well as the autofocus in the camera. They look like polished new Apple applications. You can also see how the camera app can change between video and still modes, as well as the autofocus overlay—I wonder if you could change focus with your finger—and MMS screens.

Well, let's just put it this way:

If they're still posted on Gizmodo tomorrow, they're probably fake. If they get pulled and disappear, they're probably real - Apple Legal will drop a hammer on sites posting legit pics...

We'll see what happens I suppose. Definitely looks "more polished" and certainly "Apple-ish" to me.

I don't think we'll see as much hype as the 3G iPhone... This one just adds some little features that've been missing, but nothing major like 3G support.

Don't forget the 3G has GPS support too.

I'd be curious to know if this phone will include HSDPA support, since AT&T will be upgrading the entire network to take advantage of it, before they go to LTE.

correction

Meant to put HSDPA 7.2mbps. I'm under the impression that the current hardware isn't capable of such.

I'm sure they've made some cosmetic alterations and redid some of the actual circuitry inside, might have longer battery life, etc, but in general it should be the same from here on out. It's not like they're going to introduce a "new" iPhone that will have anywhere near the impact the original one did at release.

All the future ones will basically be revisions of that one, just as the second generation model is, with some improvements and additions.

Been there, done that, nothing to see here, moving on...

That actually shocked me when I found out they were putting Exchange support on the original one. Usually Apple makes you buy new hardware on devices like that...

But *supposedly* things like the new camera features require new hardware, so some of it won't become available.

The changes are not that big. Nothing really new, only small upgrades.

I'm looking at these images from a Hong Kong blog, and they totally look like The Real Thing™ to me. Sure they are blurry, but those applications' user interface definitely screams Apple design. The gallery shows the compass and autofocus in action—which can't work in current hardware.

These could very well be the first shots of the new iPhone, featuring the new compass in action—which the current iPhone lacks—and video functions, as well as the autofocus in the camera. The more I look at these images, the more I'm convinced they are the real deal. The compass and the autofocus are hardware functions which are not supported by the current phone, which explains why these apps are not part of any of the iPhone OS 3.0 betas. As we get closer to WWDC, it seems that some stuff may be starting to leak. We saw potential parts from the next-generation iPhone 3G and what may be a new finish.

And I like the shot of the car's dashboard—which in theory was taken with its new camera
