I don't know how well known it is, but the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 is 95% as good as a TRUE or other any other highend air cooler, at least at normal fan speeds
(bottom of page) http://www.silentpcreview.com/article916-page5.html

you can get it from ChiefValue for $32.61 shipped
http://www.chiefvalue.com/product-_-productdetails.cv_-_item--CE00153889010060
or $60 shipped for two minus $10 rebate = $25 each at newegg
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...C-Froogle-_-CPU+Cooling-_-XIGMATEK-_-35233003

they also have the S1283V which is LGA 1366 compatible and has bracket mounting (compared to push pins) for $40 shipped
http://www.chiefvalue.com/product-_-productdetails.cv_-_item--CE00155789010060

compare this to the TRUE at $75

The S1283V been like that for a while, but yes great deals. I love Xigmatek! Their rebates are reliable as well, I have sent two and got them under 2 months.

Chiefvalue is sister site of Newegg, and in fact uses the same warehouse.

You can get TRUE's cheaper than what P-PCs sells them for; Directron routinely has them for $49 (even right now :D).

And the TRUE does better than the Xigmatek and it's clones at higher oc's.

Nevertheless the Xigmatek Dark Knight is a good cooler for the price. Chiefvalue had a $6 off coupon a few weeks ago on top of these prices, but these are still decent prices for a good cooler.

that version of the TRUE doesn't include 1366 mounting or a fan

True :D
http://www.jab-tech.com/Thermalright-Ultra-120-eXtreme-775-BP-pr-4388.html $51.99

$14 more than the 1283V, better performance/lower temps for those willing to spend a little extra. (Just offering an alternative, not trying to jack)

+ $6 for shipping = $61.68 or almost twice the price of the regular S1283
I know this isn't the best cooler out
but for people who want a quick and easy overclock and aren't going to be extracting every last MHz or using high voltages (most people) this is a great cooler at a fantastic price compared to the competition
this cooler has the best dollar per degree of cooling ratio

and I haven't seen any review that shows the TRUE having more than a 1-2 degree advantage over the S1283

Temps differences between the S1283 and the TRUE are marginal at best... not worth the inflated price of the TRUE.

Agree.

I wonder if these will come from newegg just like my last xigmatek I bought from chiefvalue. Came in a newegg box and warehouse.
