Microsoft Admits Vista Was a "Less Good Product"

And the award for “oddball statement of the day” goes to Microsoft's general manager of corporate strategy. Trust me, if there is anyone that knows a thing or two about saying oddball stuff, it’s me.

Quote:
"What people underestimate is the importance of good or bad products," said Songhurst. "And sometimes your products are good, sometimes the products are bad. And I think Vista was a less good product for Microsoft."

Vista is less good than Windows 7, but I felt it was superior to Windows XP. I used it for a long time, for just about every task from office stuff, to gaming, to coding, and it was just more usable than XP.

So, if Vista is less good, Windows 7 is "more better"?

I'm not mad...I thought it was "okay". Nothing beats Windows 2000 IMO...haven't tried 7 yet though.

Even Ubuntu is better than XP. XP was good for its time but it's way past old news now.

Nah...there's too many Windows apps out there that you can't use in Ubuntu. Don't get me wrong, I like Ubuntu, but Ubuntu has less flexibility for the average user.

Bullshit it has less flexibility for the average user. The average user watches videos, uses facebook, and listens to music. Ubuntu is more than capable of doing these things and even comes with an office suite and a decent photo/image editor. Decent Linux distros are at least modern. XP isn't even that and it's cumbersome to get around at that.

How so? Vista did everything I wanted it to do and I never had a single crash with it the last 2+ years of using it. Whereas XP crashed numerous times in the years I ran it.

Vista was perfectly fine, probably even more so than xp ever was.

I have 3 XP systems and 1 Vista system and i'll go on record as saying Vista is a great OS. I turned off the User Account controls because they were a PITA, but otherwise I love it. Sure there were some early problems getting drivers, but I think much of the Vista hate is unwarranted.
