Bookmark Sync for Google Chrome Beta

Those of you entertaining the idea of downloading Google Chrome beta should watch this video explaining bookmark sync.

Sure, just hand over all your bookmarks to Google. They promise not to use that information for profit, really!

Do no evil my ass.

Google won't stop till they can data mine everything on your HDD. I can't wait to see what Chrome OS does to user data...

I like chrome, its pretty, has good ideas behind it, matches windows 7 better than any other current browser, but it runs like crap on win 7 for me atleast. I thought my internet connection was borked and things were just loading very very slow until I tried firefox...

That's odd. Chrome has been solid for me for months on Win 7.

Portable Chrome blows Portable FireFox out of the water for me. I use it on my thumbdrive and my home Win7 machine. Chrome has been great and the Bookmark sync is much quicker than Xmarks, at least for me.

Maybe its just an issue for me or maybe it doesn't get along with my connection. I have to hit refresh like 4 times just to get my igoogle homepage to load all the way. Fresh win 7 pro 64 install.

This functions kind of cool, but I'll never use it. I prefer it to be an add on rather than built in. (Sorry if its built that way flash is kinda choppy and no sound so can't really check the video)

Off topic: It sucks that chrome runs so slow on this old computer (P4 512mb). Thank goodness for Firefox (using 3.6b). I'm not looking forward to different processes for each tab as it uses so much memory.

Yeah, thanks to Google Bookmarks, Google knows that I've been looking at tattooists in the L.A. area and that I occasionally bookmark cookie recipes. How am I expected to live a normal life with such rampant invasion and abuse of my personal privacy?

Typical can't-see-the-forest response. If you find the feature useful, by all means, use it.

I've installed windows 7 on 6 machines. One of them doesn't like chrome. So one in six... really confuses me though since the hardware on the one that doesn't like chrome isn't the worst one either.

Phide's right. A lot of you guys are too freaking paranoid these days.

Microsoft caches your user list so when you set up another computer and sign into your account you don't have to re-add everyone all over again. Ditto Yahoo. Lots of software giant caches in one form or another for your convenience.

I don't suppose everyone's up in arms about the big bad Google hosting all of your emails - which, incidentally, are also affected by their AdSense if you're paying attention to their banner at the top of your Gmail account.
