Former HP CEO Announces Bid for US Senate
I guess after being fired from your job as CEO and getting a massive $20 million severance package, the next logical step is to run for the U.S. Senate.

I guess it's a good way to go since they have the best healthcare plan period.

Well at least we'll have a tech savvy Senator. Lord knows we need them in Washington.

Based on how she ran HP, I would expect her first move would be to propose massive cost cutting by offshoring major portions of our government to China and India.

(*) says her/his priorities would be creating jobs, cutting government spending and expanding access to health care.
Fill in * with any politician's name. They all say the same sh!t.

I worked under (way under) Carly at Lucent. Not a big fan, but I would like to -really- know where she stands on the major issues.
But that's no different than it would be with any politician. We won't know until it's too late.

Another cookie-cutter just-like-everyone-else politician in the mix. The excitement is palpable.

Fiona gets a bad rap, but she's definitely a brilliant person.
She was the sole person behind the HP/Compaq merger and since then HP has only gotten stronger.

I worked for HP a few years before Carley was hired to run it. During my employment, HP was a wonderful company to work for. They offered tons of perks to average employees (on-site athletic center, free daycare, free soda and juice, company picnics, team building activities, etc.). I worked there while continuing my education and eventually left to peruse a career, but I had a couple of friends that continued to work there after I left. Carley literally took EVERYTHING away from the employees and quickly started outsourcing everything to Singapore. The location went from 5000+ employees to under 1500. HUGE buildings are literally vacant to this day...

IMO, HP is stronger today because Fiorina is no longer helming the company.

What reality do you live in? Carly drove the company into the ground. Hurd was brought in to turn things around after they kicked her ass to the curb. She'll fit right in with the rest of the politicos though.

Hp only got stronger because they took CPQ's strong server line and dropped theirs (which if anyone worked on an hp server pre merger knows what I mean those things were washing machines..). CPQ had a non existent desktop and laptop market...but none of that really matters. A senator does not run the government. She is a name that they can use to get Boxer out. As far as tech savvy - Boxer is co sponser of the Jumpstart Broadband Act to make more specturm available to devices that incorporate broadband technology and opposes the internet sales tax. Should be an interesting race,

Definition of Irony
Claim you are about "creating jobs" when under your former job you outsourced your ex company leading to thousands of lay offs.

Whatever Fiona's faults at least she is not a certified moron like Barbara Boxer.

I understand she's a polarizing figure, but you cannot deny her strategic vision and skill.
Hell, she proposed the EDS acquisition in 2001, one they ended up making in 2008 under Hurd's tensure.

Well, she doesn't say "create jobs for AMERICANS in AMERICA". ![]() So in essence she is telling the "truth" about what she wants to do. She wants to create jobs for people outside of USA.

I'm a current HP employee. Carly is referred internally by the rank and file as SWMNBN, or She Who Must Not Be Named. I seriously doubt she'll get any HP employee votes.

She's a criminal. How on earth can she expect to be elected to a Senate seat? Arrogance tells us that some people imagine money can buy you anything.
