Toshiba Introduces Industry's Largest-Capacity 1.8" HDD

Toshiba Corporation, the industry pioneer in small form factor hard disk drives (HDDs), today introduced a new line up of 1.8-inch HDDs with a maximum capacity of 320GB, the highest yet announced by the industry, targeted at thin and light mobile PCs and portable external hard disk drives. The new series delivers three models in 160GB, 250GB and 320GB capacities, and will start mass production from December.

Which is why I beg the question, if there are mechanical drives in cars these days why are they not high cap models of these 1.8" models and if they are solid state in cars, why are they not atleast throwing in like 128 gig hd's?

because indash PC systems are a cash cow. The last think you want to do is cut into your 80 or 90% profit margin by buying anything except the cheapest crap on the market.

^^ This. They charge you 2-3,000 for it. They spend 100$ on it.

Do you really think the sound systems and rims cost them thousands?
