Am I the only one who thinks this stuff is overhyped? As a laptop or something, it might be kind of alright, but who wants to stare down at some table, or stand up at a wall and wave their arms around. I can see it having some applications, but it's not something I would want to use at work for example.

My toughts on the video: More demo, less talk.
Seems very laggy to me. When I move a piece of paper on my real desk, it moves, it doesn't slowly "glide". Got to make it snappy and quit it with the fading of menus, god I hate that.

I like how they try and pass this thing off as something "new" and "innovative".

Perhaps it is a little overhyped because its so cool, but do not discount that it can be functional and practical. On my tx2 for instance if I want to zoom in my web browser all I have to do now pinch the screen. Its actually faster than using a mouse. And all of the browers support pinching in Windows 7 IE,FF,Opera and Chrome. Haven't tried Safari.
I think people are so stuck to keyboards and mice that they simply are trying to see HOW this technology can be useful to them. I'm actually finding it nice to be able to flick through a documents now using touch. It just gives one more options at the very least.

Anyone notice the delay? That'll drive me crazy.

Well like I said, there are applications where it makes sense. Handhelds are an obvious one, but I can't see myself operating a pc like that for multiple hours a day. I'd end up with a sore back.

Reminds me of a laggy version of MS Surface.
The reason for the lag, is its not using a touch sensitive surfaces, but a camera that tracks your hand, and interprits your intentions. That interpritation takes time even with the fastest processers. Im sure Sony had to do this due to patents from MS with the surface.

I agree, it's pretty laggy and it could become a nuisance for most people, accustomed to the speed of keyboards and mice...

The being accustomed to keyboards/mice is only going to pan out for so long. I cant remember if it was from theese forums or not but I remember reading an article on how people want to change the way the keyboard is layed out because we can make one that is twice as effeciant, but pulling people off the old IBM keyboards, and learning an entire new way to type is just too much of a hassle.
Sort of relates to this topic. Theres just so many ways we could be more efficiant but cant because we are holding onto old technologies.

Doesnt seem to do anything more than Surface would do. Maybe the giant price tag that Sony slaps on their products to make it special

Well, if they took out all the stupid shit to make it "look nice" I bet it'd be a lot quicker with response. I liked the face recognizing dealy, though.

I don't really understand why there are so many references to "multitouch" on hardocp. Is someone getting paid? Seriously, this stuff is useless.

Really? Certain smart phone users might disagree and I've actually been finding it useful on my tablet. For a group of techies there seems to be a lack of imagination around here.
