Managed Copy hits Blu-ray Discs Next Month…Kinda
The good news is that Managed Copy will hit Blu-ray discs starting next month. The bad news? There will not be any hardware support when it does.

Thank goodness Sony has FINALLY decided on what blu-ray should do! I mean they have no fear of HD-DVD, they can now sell blu-ray players for a competitive price and start growing the blu-ray library.
Oh wait, Sony has no idea what it's doing, this is why blu-ray is going to fail. I mean come on Sony! Blu-ray, Blu-ray Java, Blu-ray+, Blu-ray Managed Copy? Consumers want what works, not to buy new hardware or constant firmware upgrades (if possible) just because you can't even stick with one single blu-ray format. I am getting sick and tired of hearing a "new" version of blu-ray.

I still don't own a Blueray drive, and no movies. I have a large collection of DVD's and don't see a large enough incentive to "upgrade" to Blueray.
HD is for movie Theaters of home theaters with big, expensive wall mounted screens. Sure, the detail is much better in HD, but that does not add to the enjoyment of most movies for me. If Sony wants me to "upgrade,' then Blueray has to be made simple. Digital media needs to be transferable between devices. I don't care about Blueray backups, I want movie backups. Let the original disc be the backup. I don't care for those special features on the disc anyway.

+1000! Their products like AnyDVD are reason I laugh at people when they talk about Windows DRM.

The biggest issue now is getting the content on my Zune HD, but with digital copies coming with BD movies even that's not an issue much anymore.

Meh. I see no need to copy Blu-Rays to my computer. Of course since I have no need to stream media or copy it to other systems that could be why.

Oh yes, but really people need to blame the entire BDA and not just one single company.

Who is the prime mover behind Blu-ray? Who makes the most Blu-ray players? Who owns the most Blu-ray patents? Who has the most money involved with Blu-ray? Why does this have to asked in every damn Blu-ray topic on this site?

Sony doesn't sell the most players? What about that PS3 thingy?

If you want to include that, fine. I was talking about stand alone. Either way, what I'm trying to get across is that people need to blame the entire BDA for problems with Blu-Ray, not just one single company.
