UK's Terrifying Anti-Piracy Plans Leak
If the “leaked” information in this article is accurate, anyone caught sharing files in the UK could soon be facing jail time. Uh-oh, I don’t think too many people in the UK are going to be happy about this. Well, aside from that freaky pro-RIAA dude that sends me hate mail every time I post one of these stories.

Whatever good they hope to accomplish is overshadowed by this beauty:
The leaked information mainly shows that the Secretary of State will have the power to introduce all kinds of draconian measures without Parliamentary oversight.
any policy or government agency that is without oversight or accountable to no one leads to big time trouble. and again Quote:

hey UK, ever heard of innocent until proven guilty? the concept of proper liability? how about checks and balances?
i sure hope governments stop taking all these fucking bribes (excuse me, lobbyist funding) from the racketeering media conglomerate. how long is it going to take for us to all realize that impinging upon citizens basic rights under paranoid scapegoat garbage pretext isnt going to fix the problem of piracy?

Ah New Labour - Old Labour (pre 1987) spinning in their graves
They'll get voted out next election but the promise of more control over one's citizens is always enticing

This isn't going to work.
1. Jail cells gonna overfilled with inmates pretty fast. 2. ISPs lose broadband costumers which meant they lose $$$ as well. This will piss Brits off and they in return will vote those who invented this dumb ideas OUT pretty fast. Simple logic.

I miss ol' blighty, just not the half wits in control of it, it was fine when I left...although Blair was almost on his way out to let the new emperor...I mean leader, take over...I mean run the country.
Meh, we'll see how it goes I guess, the proposal has to go through the commons first under a vote, it probably won't make it through, but then the house of inbred pillocks...I mean house of lords could then vote on it, if they really want to try and push this one through.

I love it how you only have to be accused of file sharing. So the UK version of the MPAA or RIAA comes along, acuses you and bang, you lose the internets.

It's almost as if the US politicians and the UK politicians are in a race to see who can destroy their country the fastest. Special interest groups and lobbyists for the win.

Hey UK, if you revolt against your politicians, then the US will as well. Maybe we can leave them on a remote Island and call it Politician Survivor.

This story tends to make it sound worse than what it actually is, far to many practical issues means it'll won't effect many people.
