Inspiring Change in Education with Technology
In recognition of International Education Week, Intel ethnographer Tony Salvador discusses what he observed last week at the International eLearning Summit, a gathering of educators and policymakers from 40 countries. He reflects on the difficult - but essential - task many education decision makers are faced with to ensure their education systems are moving in the right direction. Tony calls out Portugal and Macedonia as leading countries supporting education, by investing in technology for enhancing and facilitating learning in the classroom.

kids learning from the internet? lame. they learn how to cut and copy from wikipedia. kids learning from slide shows? they learn how to copy symbols from one location to another without understanding what they mean. and if you're explaining to them what they mean - they're not listening because they're too busy copying or doing anything else.
summer school kids have a book, paper and a pen. their teachers have a white-board, a marker and a tv. no computers. no internet. and they learn better then they ever do because they're motivated and they read and they listen and even think.
